Bought one of these today for the Arai - the "dark smoke" jobbie...bit cheaper than I had thought - $132, not $165 as I had been led to believe.

Now I can be one of the posers hiding behind a black mask...:woohoo:

Have to say, its much easier on the eyes in the bright sunshine though. Sure beats squinting...

Painted the top half/third of the inside of mine metallic blue in a shallow 'V' shape.

Magic, always looks like blue sky, no glare from the sun and cheap as chips too.;)

It's the rising sun that gets me - I usually ride early in the day.

is it not better to use a clear visor and sunglasses so when it gets dark your not stuck with a tinted lens? im new to this so could be wrong.

My clear visor fits inside my pillion seat so I always have both visors on me 24/7.

Dunno bout you bro. But 99% of the time i'm riding in the day time, and a small (minescule) amount of my time at night.

I have under my pillion seat some clear glasses, and I just lift my tinted visor.

I'd rather be comfortable 99% of the time, and not have to squeeze glasses on, and just use my clear glasses when I have to, 1% of the time, and be uncomfortable with glasses inside the helmet for as little amount of time as possible.

So no, your not better with a clear visor and sunglasses. For example; Have you ever gone from wearing glasses at the snow, then popped on some goggles? The difference is the same.

Tinted visor all the way.

Be uncomfortable for as little a time as necessary. Realistically, unless your different to most, you will only really be returning home from a ride at night.......or, if your specifically going out at night, then you can just pop on your clear one.

Just my $1 anyway. FYI, I commute through winter/summer and my bike is also my toy, and gets weekend/weekday rides, there's no way i'll own a helmet without a tinted visor.

I agree with Firefighter re tinted visors.
The only thing I would add would be not to try riding at night with a scratched visor as the light relects/refracts all over the place making your vision distorted.

Lol, yeah you can get them off trademe. Choppers I believe. Or by now there's probably 1000 other brands competing for your moolah.

Yes. A pair of clear wraparound safety specs are invaluable.

I have the following:
Clear visor (almost never used unless foggy).
Tinted visor - used all the time, even in winter.
Dark sunnies
Clear sunnies.

90% of the time I use sunnies and tinted visor. Chance of getting caught after dark = take clear sunnies and use them with visor up/off.

Just head down to your local safety shop "NZ Safety" are a good start. Cheap, too.

$130 is cheap. If it didn't get thrown in when I brought my helmet I would have had to fork out $200! Shoei's new visor design their new helmet means they have to charge $60+ over the old ones. Super!

I've always had tinted visors. More specifically, iridium. It means that everyone I ride with can see how good they look. That's me, always thinking of others.

I'm the same. I gotta wear sunnies even on overcast days.

I picked up a tinted one for $70 for my shark helmet just before Christmas.

Chucked it on outside the store and it's remained on my helmet ever since.

Has helped the squinting immensely. Sometimes I even find myself squinting out of habit before i realize I don't need to :P

Yeah im a cheap prick also, I have blue insualtion tape along the top of my clear visor. Works a treat, a couple of other have followed suit.
I have a tinted visor but hardly use it.

during summer my tinted visor dosn't come off, clear glasses for riding at night, but i tend to use it less in winter when the nights are longer, and it's farkn cold having your visor up

Pretty much always carry two visors, obviously a tinted and a clear for the appropriate times of the day, got put off wearing any kind of glasses by a mate who happened to have some pics of what sunglasses can do to your face in an accident if you're unlucky enough, think about it, metal/glass/plastic right next to your eyes....

Not if your sunglasses have polarising lenses...

I have to wear prescription lenses...too cheap to shell out for prescription sunnies. So it's tinted visor for me, just have to make sure I'm back home before dark ;)
