Well I did it, traded my beloved 2007 Super Duke on the 24th December 2009 on the new Streetfighter, third week of ownership & 3400k's later & all I can say is "Nice".
Just had the Termi's fitted yesterday & she's making the tunes it was designed to make & new rear tyre is on the list of things to get once I get the suspension (sag & stuff)sorted.
I know, no photo attached, have to sort that one out ! ;)

I tested this bike last year, loved it to bits!

I tested this bike last year, loved it to bits!

I was seriously considering one until I sat on it....I am more into longer rides, and felt the position was a little too agressive for me, I even tried one with higher WRP bars fitted but no and ended up buying the last of the real monsters which has worked out well for me.

But would really like to go for a good blast on one if I get the chance one day

Got a quick comparison of the good/bad points between them both?Well is there such a thing as a quick comparision, my spelling is crap & typing skills are lacking !
Riding positon - SD very comfortable did fit a gel seat & did quite afew big trips, did help having no neck with the wind blast & AGV S4 would have to be the best helmet for a naked bike IMHO.
SF, alot more forward & not as upright but now I've done a few k's I really dig it, certainly helps with the cornering confidence. The seat is comfortable especiailly when you checkout how much apping it hasn't got. There is sweet FA room to move around on but not too restrictive. On issue is the bloody heal guard for the pipes !
Power - SD, with 110rwhp is more than enough for our roads & really good of the mark, some moan about the fuelling been on or off but @ the end of the day when you are on it you just had to be sensible.
SF - nice, the front wheel comes up a little more violently but once mastered it's very sweet. Now that I've had the cans fitted I find I'm short shifting which sounds nice.No complaints about the fuelling.
Fuel usage- SD, my 05 with the 15ltr tank would be dry @ 154km's when feeding it to her. The 07 with the 18.5ltr tank was a breath of fresh air after the 05, fuel light would come on between 190-230k's obviously depending on the right hand !Ran out of fuel on the 05 on numerious occassions & on the 07 not once
SF - 16.5ltrs, appears not too bad (early days yet), having recently fitted the Termi's,ECU & air filter & the lights coming on between 190-210k's.
Right long story short, need to sort the suspension out but saying that am happy with it but not looking @ the tyre wear somethings not quite there yet.
KTM build quality awesome, bolts undo & do upagain with no problems, wheel/tyre changes piece of cake.Streetfighter requires a large 55mm (?) star socket & 2 people to remove because the nut is done up blardy tight .No shops down here have the tools to do it so if I don't take m wheel off my self that means travelling to Hamilton just to get the tyre changed .
After taking a 1198S for a strop I'm glad I bought the streetfighter as the riding postion is what I've become accustomed to.
At the end of the day the KTM is an awesome machine but the Streetfighter is a bit of me & is were I am at with my riding pleasure right now & for a few more years into the future !

BIKE have repeatedly mentioned the position of the pipes interfering with a foot.

I met another local rider with a brand new SF at the Toy run but he hadn't noticed the foot problem. He'd only had the bike a day, but then again he had ridden it across from Tauranga.

Good write up.

Oh most excellent choice - glad to hear that it is working for you! I am soooo envious as it was to be my next bike - even sold my Duc in preparation/anticipation, but alas it was not meant to be :) I woudl love to see some photo's now that you have the termi's fitted?! How about a write up of first impressions with a photo or two for the Ducati Owners Club of New Zealand (DOCNZ) magazine? Go on, you know you want to... send it to me at editor@docnz.co.nz  :innocent:

Yes the twin Termi's looked fucken sweet last night & sounded just as Kool , but I would have to say that seen as I have Twins Arrow shotguns on the Aprilia . Afew bits of carbon bling will just add to its already tuff look .

HerB4 " Maybe, but only because you asked so nicely, still deciding if I'll join DOC, I was an IMOC member when it was formed. As Sensei said the photo's won't do the cans justice, they are a piece of art really. I'm certainly not dissapointed I bought her !
& Hey Pritch is ok to contact you re. NDR, Dave & I are thinking of going & Paul told me you were going too !
