Howdy all,

It's been a number of years since I had a bike, but I've always had a desire to get another one, just mortgages and life in general always seemed to have other priorities. About this time last year my wife and I decided that this summer would be a good time to take the plunge.

We plan to do mostly weekend, fair weather rides two up for a start and go from there, so we are now the next owners of an 07 C50T Boulevard.

First time on a bike for 12 years or so was the test ride 2 up, which went fairly well, then the trip home on my own through the twisties in the rain while er indoors followed in the car. Handling through the twisties was a little different to how I remember my old RD350LC behaved :bleh:

Went for another short scoot on Tues with er indoors pillion, and she seems to be enjoying it. The 1st time she was ever on a bike was on a short (20 min or so) test ride with me 6 years ago when I was considering getting back on a bike on a shoestring budget (older unreliable bike would probably have cost more in the long run), and the second time on a bike was the aforementioned test run on the boulevard.

We bought new safety gears with the bike and so far so good.

That's about it for now, guess I should go polish some chrome

Thank you all for the welcome! The weather forecast isn't looking too promising for the weekend, but never mind. It certainly is good to be back on 2 wheels again. Blackbird I used to share cube space with the guy that now does the role that you used to do - always entertaining

Hi Smifffy.. welcome to KB & back to the REAL world.. of motorcycling!! ;)

I take it that CNI is central North Island...?? or somewhere near there??

If you can get yourself to Wgtn, contact Andrew & Lynne at Roadsafe www.roadsafe.co.nz & book yourself in for a Refresher Course!!! (They also go to Hamilton sometimes..) I promise you it will be worth every penny!

Good gear might save your skin & bones.. but good rider training might save your life!! :niceone:

Good on ya, the more bikes on the road the better... until it reaches critical mass and a spontaneous nuclear chain reaction

Good on ya Smiffy and Wife (Wifffy?) - and your bike sounds like a goodie. Where in CNI are ya? I'm based in the King Country, but o'seas at present. Enjoy your riding Mate - I'm stuck on a 40km long island, and despite the fine roads and constant sunny weather......

Thanks again for all the welcomes! I got your PM Blackbird, and will reply when it lets me (need to get busy posting). I had to work Yesterday, so no riding, but I got out for a small scoot today with Wfffy. Headed down SH32 from Tokoroa to Pukawa and took a couple of Pix of the bike (first pix and all that), then fuelled up at Tokaanu and on to Turangi for lunch. Had lunch in the Rose Garden at the Mustard Seed cafe - felt a little like eating lunch in a cemetery with the fleur de lis fence around us. Another customer in the cafe warned me to watch out coz all the nannas in town were perving on the bike lol.

After lunch we headed to Taupo, and since things were still going well, decided to go SH5, rather than 1, so blatted up to Vegas, and back to Tok.

Will put up some of the pictures we took.

Over-cooked one of the corners down the western side of the lake, which earned a Karate chop in the ribs from 'er on the back, once we got onto an even keel again, think I worked out where I went wrong and had a pretty good run from then on. Nothing that a few more miles won't fix.
