Apparently, The roads are already bad enough with crashes that these New licensed drivers will be driving out there with all their mates to watch and participate and she is complaining that there will be more crashes due to these young youths traveling down the road.. Man some people really are old ditties aint they? Gotta love them

Only heard it on the Radio though.. Didnt see the news..

Yeah saw that,i was like wtf? The roads out there are always kinda dangerous, especially with cagers driving like lunatics.

Besides,it's only for a few days. It can get really busy there on a nice day,so I wouldn't imagine it to be much different.

Its going to be a "super city dont ya know".Why would anyone want to leave such a place?Between the latest in 4wds and Rodneys fashion sense combined with the navigation system on the next load of boat people confusing Australia for Auckland that it indeed will achieve super city status.Long may it last.

Super city ... ??? I remember the days when you could drive from one side of a city to the other ... without GPS. And with some GPS systems installed in cars ... ending up in the SAME city is counted as success ...

if there is anything to actually moan about. it is the fact that it is impossible to catch waves out there at the moment with all these crazy young surfers in the water.
we went out last weekend and ended up just sitting and watching from the beach. there is some real talent there!

good luck to the nz team, hope they rip it up.

Its a shame politics and everyone trying to hog the limelight created a fixed locale, instead of a roaming contest site/beach. The surf at Piha for this event is pretty bad, and may be remembered as such. Whereas east coast fired yesterday as did Shipwreck bay in Ahipara next few days.

Prior to the contest (when the waves were good) I had a surf with a pack of international 14 year old boys and girls. Makes you feel like a real geek.

Funnily, pride came to play and I surfed way better than I normally do(yeah right). Flying the flag for fat old kiwi bastards

I'm with you on that one. Super Shithole more like. The place has grown too fast for its own infrastructure (the sewage overflows speak volumes, the traffic is bullshit) and the last time I visited (last November) the people we were travelling with were playing 'spot the honkey'. You/they can have it. We scarpered two years ago and haven't regretted it for a second.

An old saying ... if you dont like it, change it. If you cant change it ... change your attitude.

Improvements to our lives are more likely, with more of our OWN effort ... than by expecting others (or goverment) to make it so.

Hell no! The Nelson region is full of 'em!

Sure I haven't got a full-on garage, chock with toys, a mansion to live in (bedecked with Playboy bunnies) and a luxury launch for parties galore but hey; we have a bike each, a V8 to play with, a reliable shopping trolley and our own tidy wee (4brm) house. We're doing fine and are grateful for it.

There are plenty of people on the planet who would give their eye teeth for the contents of our freezer!
