View Full Version : Blinker OCD

Noticed tonight that I've developed a habit of hitting the indicator reset button after almost every upshift, or at least the first couple out of an intersection (if there are that many to do) regardless of whether or not I've already hit it, which usually I have.

I think it comes from being all a bit paranoid about leaving it on in the early days of riding, but now that I've noticed it, I think I'll keep it, anything to help prevent an SUV turning across my bows 'cause he thinks I'm turning when I'm not. And I dunno if this will or wont help anyone else, but I thought hey, might as well mention it, and if a bit of upshift blinker helps prevent someone else from getting a car grill through their spleen, then awesome.

Otherwise, anyone else got any helpful obsessive compulsive disorders?

I constantly check my blinkers have reset, But i don't know about after changing gears though, that seems a bit mental;)

Seems a bit ott for every shift. I make it habit to do it straight after whatever the first gear shift I make through an intersection is - turn, shift, button.

Yeah, I've noticed I'll hit the reset button after I turn even if I haven't indicated ie where the road curves sharply but there's no intersecting road. Force of habit

Yeah I push it a bit. Not as much as you though! My OCD is checking my mirrors. I'm used to it from the truck I think. Oh, and i'm super paranoid about checking my tyre pressures. I clean my chain every time I clean my bike, every time I clean the chain I clean under all the covers too. I ca'nt just do the chain, so I guess the over cleaning of the chain and covers is another OCD.

I sometimes find myself indicating through those sharp curves...and then repeatedly pushing the reset button to make sure I've cancelled my intentions before anyone notices...

I do this too, although I've managed to miss once or twice and honk somebody out. That's always embarrasing when they're doing nothing wrong.
