So I've gone and got myself a Hornet! Picked it up yesterday from Mt Eden Motorcycles, big thanks to Chris and the guys there for a good deal and being a cool guy, the bike is pretty much immaculate.

Already been through close to 3 tanks of gas since yesterday afternoon, been riding out to Maraetai, Clevedon, Kaiaua, Miranda, Hunua, Bombay area. It's like a different world coming from the FXR150, all I can say is that I love this machine!

Weather was a bit shit tonight but so what I didn't care, I just kept on going! Took some pics when I got back, see the attachments. I'm thinking of at least 2 things I would like to do, which is add a rear wheel hugger and put in a brighter bulb. There's quite a few vids on youtube of people putting different exhausts on it, but what the hell, I love the sound this bike makes as it is. There's a sweet spot around 8000-10000 revs when you're cruising along that just sounds mint, nevermind the scream when you accelerate.

Anyway. I love this bike. Thought I'd share that!

Well done :niceone: I hereby welcome you to the swarm and know you are going to get a lot of fun and use out of your lil'ol'hornet!

I've still got my bopping around and enjoy it as much (if not more) than my Big Ol'Hornet! :msn-wink:

Come check out the Hornet Swarm rides on Mondays (6.30pm meet outside Akld Public library in Lorne street).

Always good to have more buzz for the swarm! :woohoo:

Nice looking bike.
Red wheels on a Hornet, ahh the memories (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/32223-The-dogs-Hornet-mods).

You should turn the FXR into a bucket racer, it's what they are made for.

Yeaa I pretty much love it. Will be going on another good ride for a good part of the day tomorrow, well actually it's today now, and the group 250 one that's being organised for sun. I'll come along to the next hornet swarm when I can as well. As for the seat haha well it's plenty comfy so he can't have treated it too badly :P

Nice work, you've caught the bug! (or is that buzz?)
I was in Mt Eden a few weeks ago and saw that Hornet thinking someone's gonna get a pretty good deal out of that, Chris is a bloody good guy.

I would agree that the 250 hornet seats are quite comfy! I would dare say they are more comfy than their 900 brother.

Dan good to see you enjoyed the bike!!! that bike was my pride and joy for the last 6 months. Loved it to bits and always cared for it.....Please please please please take good care of it!!!!!!!!!

The hornet was really an awesome ride, you will have lots of fun on it!!! Come to think now I actually enjoyed my hornet days far better than the zx6r. Too many good things about it, smooth handling, easy on petrol, comfy riding position, and so nimble you can flick it through traffic just like a scoot!!!

Oh and I still got the 2 bolts that have been taken out when I fit the motorcycleusa framesliders. Also I have changed the bulb for a brighter one (got the brightest legal one from cycletreads), and still got the old bulb lying around. You are welcome to drop by sometime and pick them up! just flick me a msg

AHHH I should have got a 600 hornet instead :weep:

Haha well seems everyone just loves a Hornet! Went on a good ride again today, down to Kaiaua again, turned around and came back the same way, then kept on going through Warkworth up to Wellsford ... around to Helensville ... and then back home! So was quite a bit of a ride, something about this bike just makes me want to keep on going, town after town. Saw quite a few bikes out today, shit weather again but I didn't really notice!

Oh yea and don't worry mate, I've been giving it a good clean after each ride, how could I not, she deserves it! lol...

Haha! Just what I was thinking. You're going to need a bank loan for all the gas you're burning through.

Can you see yourself continuing to ride the FXR now?

It's a great race bike for bucket racing.
