Umm Do you wear your bike pants inside or outside of your boots?

Is it a safety thing? or preference?

Does it depend on the gear?

Should I turn up to my basic handling course in all my gear? or will I look like a complete toss?

Trousers outside of boot, not for safety, just for incase it rains as your boots fill up otherwise. Tucking your normal toursers into the top of your socks stops them poking out the end of your bike trousers and getting wet as well (learnt that after a very soggy day at work!)

And do wear your gear to the BHS, you'll be in a car park with a load of people who have never ridden a bike before so it's best to be on the safe side...

Hi there,
I've think that most leather gear won't fit over the top of boots, it's form-fitting (hugs your calves) so you have to tuck them into your boots. As long as you do the boots up well you probably won't have any problems with wet feet unless you're riding in a deluge.

I bought some leather gears on the same day as I sat my BHS and the organisers told me to go put it on. You'll probably get a better reaction from the BHS organisers if you do turn up in full dress because they'll see that you're taking it seriously.

...woah. don't stress. yes, the others are right: wear full gear to BHS. you will find that textile pants and kevlar jeans are generally shaped to go over your boots. cruising and touring leathers also tend to have a wide-leg to go over as well, whereas racing leathers are usually tapered at the bottom to go under your boots. it's fairly obvious.

Turn up naked, it's a crowd stopper.

Maybe you should change your username to str8 chaps then. Yeeooww!

TH, I didn't turn up to my basic handling test in gear and I was fine. You would probably be fine either way as long as you have sensible pants (jeans I guess) and boots. I wouldn't try it in a tuxedo, even though you would bank a shit load of style points.

You dont need your full gear at the BHS test, and if its a hot day you are gunna fry.

Take your own helmet, gloves, and jacket (take the liner out.) Put your jacket on if you are cold, and for fucks sake get some gear off if you too warm, or you will fall over on your face - a bad look.

Have fun! You will always remember the BHS test.

BHS is probably the one place you're alright to not wear total gear.
You're probably not going to exceed 20km/h and if you're wearing your gear for the first/second time you're

1) not used to it
and
2)it's not worn in.

Also, if you have a choice tuck them inside so they don't ride up your legs in a slide.
Some pants don't fit inside

Trousers in or out depends onthe cut of the strides and what type of boots you wear. OUtties have zips and velcro strips at the bottom to stop them riding up in an off.

How did the BHS go anyway?

Yeah the ones that have the zips down the side of the legs and vecros, as ratti said can go on the in or out. i used to wear mine inside of the boots (had no problem with rain getting into boots)
but i found that it gets more hot , there for more sweat so i left them outside over the boot to get more airflow going.

dosnt matter, its a matter of what you're more comfortable with.

you dont need gear for your handling course, jeans and jacket are sweet, just proper footwear as it can be uncomfortable changing gears with soft sports shoes.

Had to put the course of until this Satirday. I have been overseas for a couple of weeks.
I'm looking forward to it.

Good question asked and one I wondered about it too I have some pants with under straps so I figured most do under the boot but that would direct in rain but over the boot look daft and would get stuffed by the pegs solution skill knife cut um off and cover the boots but its a chiken and egg question what ever look coolest I say and john wayne was never a good look
