Alrighty Ive got a Mighty GN250 in stock here. Its had a bit of a hard life cosmeticly so I thought "heck why not have a bit of fun with it".
Currently the tank, seat, headlight, bars and indicators are off. but soon to follow is the exhaust system and front guard.
Plan is to fit a set of flat bars, then a square headlight and handlebar fairing. the tank has got to go followed by the entire tailight setup. The moffler is being replaced with a reverse cone megaphone.
Im thinking a GB250 kinda look might be fun --or SRV250
waddaya reckon---could be fun to cool up an GN

Well, that idea of modding up GNs comes up every now and then....Recalled an old thread from Paul in NZ about modding old jappas... http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/38247-A-bit-of-advice-on-old-jap-bikes-please
There was a good pic of an old GN seriously modded in there... http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45188&d=1162349981
Also found another good pic on a philipines thread...and another one somewhere else....
Oh, I used to ride GNs years ago....they are pieces of shit, but good pieces of shit

Something about silk purses comes to mind... But if any bike could do with a style makeover the wee GN is probably right up there...

Try crashing it dead square into an immovable object, like - really fast with no one on board, (obviously you'll have to tow it or something).
Then. Then, you may just adjust the steering head angle into something useful to restart a project with.

Any of those three attachments above would be great. Gee someone might turn up with a fat wad of cash for it!

Not that I know f**k because I ride a GN, but from a person who tries to ride a GN like a sportsbike - clipons or flat bars, move the pegs back, swap the forks for something out of a sportier 250. This would eliminate the reclined riding position and the dive under braking. Hopefully. If you do this with trademe bargains or wreckers parts then there is no need to spend bugger all, and it could make it a bit of a laugh. Or it could upset it completely and make it unridable, but the general consensus would suggest that wouldn't be a big deal anyway.

all that bling, but them you have the problem of "the motor" one boring excellent piece of technology......to be honest you'd have to be one hard core biker to have fun on a GN........unless you do what F5dave said.

300cc bore and piston kit, clean up the ports and chamber, plane the shit out of the head and barrel, get rid of the whole exhaust system and start from scratch, get a carb off something a bit more sophisticated - you could make something out of it, it would be a huge waste of money to pay somebody else to do it, but if you had the time and the tools you can always squeeze a little bit more out of anything.

I have always wanted to tweak a GN......
There is a cool bike under that reliable transport. I swear.

Best 'tweak' would be to crash it into a brick wall to get the steering head angle. . . .-oh hold on I seem to have already wrote that above ha-ha. Well at least I'm consistent.
And no, these projects are always hot air

My ciggarette lighter would do wonders for it.
Otherwise, I would go cafe ricer...I mean racer style.

Check out Rattlers and also Grease Monkeys, both are websites that have such bikes turned into some rather flash bobbers, choppers, and street customs.
