Ever wondered how long does it take before the engine will blow without oil?

2.42?
Haven't watched the video, But blowing up motors while not travelling sideways or doing jumps is lame.
PS- I thought Nissan Micra may have been an Asian porn star.

I don't trust Nissan in the reliability department..

They say they ran it entirely without oil? I'd have expected it to die MUCH faster than that...
When you think about it, what engine would be able to withstand bumping off the redline for 2 solid minutes while remaining stationary - even with all of it's oil in there? The fan alone wouldn't be able to get rid off all that heat..
I don't trust Nissan in the reliability deparment..
Que? :gob:
They most definitely build robust engines - and the video is a testament to that.
...now, if you had said Mitsubishi then I'd be happy to agree.

I have the sad misfortune to have a Micra as a work vehicle and I believe they can run for months without oil - well, mine did before I got it! The silly bitch who had it before me NEVER checked the oil between services so when I got it, there was NO oil in the car at all. By NO oil, I mean the dipstick was dry apart from a blob of black sticky gunge on the end. I bought some oil and it took FOUR litres to bring it up to the right level! It runs so much smoother now!
I can't agree about the Mitsubishis though - I've had heaps of them as work vehicles and never had any trouble, and we've had a Lancer as a personal car for seven years and only had one problem in all that time and that was caused by some idiot at the dealership not tightening something up when it went in for a service - something to do with the fanbelt I think, and it snapped and broke something.

SMOKEU seems to spout unfounded bullshit all the time so wouldn't make a fuss over it.

To become old and wise one first must be young and dumb.
I hope he lives long enough to become the former because he's got the latter well and truely covered.

Didn't I read somewhere a post by you saying that you NEVER put people on ignore?
You aren't a politician by chance?

Was that a "cash for clunkers" video?
(As part of the Government-cash-back-trade-in thing the U.S. was doing, the traded-in car had to be run without oil until the engine stopped.
It was to ensure that the car was wrecked not re-sold.)

We bought a Nissan Pulsar new in '99 and it's now done 178,000km. The only time I lift the bonnet between services is to refill the windscreen washer bottle. It never uses any oil or water otherwise. Still runs like new...

I have an old diesel Navara approaching 300,000km's and haven't had any dramas with it, consumables like the clutch have worn out over time but it starts first time and still does what it was designed to do fine. Could do with a clean I guess

How is that "sad misfortune". The fact that the car runs at all is a bloody miracle really! (If you're just complaining about having a Micra as a company car - HTFU or buy your own Mercedes :p )

Well, I am sure that most Mitsubishis runs well without burning oil. However, if you look at the obvious oil-burners around town Mitsubishi is over-represented.
