Coro loop this saturday. Will most likely be doing doing the half coro so the day doesn't drag on too long and to ensure maximum fun for minimum rubber/gas.

The pirate is on board for this one. Start at Papakura autobahn at 10am, lunch at coroglen and then ride will end up at his in time to eat at the sweet new chinese place he's been telling me about followed by movie night.

wouldn't a full coro give a higher fun to gas ratio? (assuming here that motorway isn't considered fun)

:bleh:

good mappage though

The motorway is a given and written off and thus does not enter into calculations.
We are going on a fun to time ratio. ;)

if we ignore the boring bits of course we get maximum fun to time :slap:

thus, to maximise the fun/time ratio we must have maximum fun whilst minimising time spent bored. As we can't reduce boredom on the hauraki plains (no detour, whereas we can always skip SH1/2), we have to have maximum funtime. this means a figure8 coro. enjoy.

i didn't even realise there was a link in there until i quoted you; sounded like you were saying sh1/2 were the fun parts.... I wasn't entirely surprised :bleh:

SH2? All of that can be avoided if you're smart about it.

Head out through Hunua and past Miranda and you'll pop out on SH25 at Waitakaruru.

Dunno why any biker would ride SH2 to Coro from Auckland..............

*facepalm*

That is already the plan, and has been since the start.

We just figured there was no point putting it up on the map, else keyboard warriors would arrive saying that X route is better than our Y route, and Squiggles would be scared off by the prospect of corners. Plus I know a couple of certain numpties who would try to memorise that route from google maps, rather than just following the leader.

Slyer

Yer that's just Google's route, the start and stop points are the important things.

Forget Mt Taranaki and do the Forgotten Highway (SH43) twice. You won't regret it.

And make sure you stop for one of their Whanga burgers too! Omnomnom.

keyboard warriors or folk who thought using SH2 is just plain crazy...........................

re following the leader: not something i'm much good at, never been much of a follower

earth mother who art everywhere
hallowed by thy name
thy highways come
thy windies be done
on earth as it is in herven

if i come will people get upset if i don't play follow the leader? It's been weeks since i had a ride

Are you sure you can't find somewhere better to ride this weekend? The Peninsula is totally chokka with tourist vans and people towing boats. I've just got back from Port Charles and even up there, on the dirt, there was heaps of traffic. If you do come, watch out for 4 wheelers cutting corners, driving standards are diabolical at present.

Slyer
29th January 2010, 15:51
Yeaah, we could decide to go somewhere else on the day perhaps. :bleh:

Will see.

Yup, we took all the back roads to kopu but turned around at Tairua due to downpour. :bleh:
Took the backroads back to east auckland and helped an old chap on a 50's BSA two stroke on the way. :)
