I don't have a freezer big enough to do my pipe, so I thought I would give the compressed air and heat method. Any other ways to do it? I was thinking of pressurising water into instead? Good idea? I could slowly pressurise it with some pump or something? I was thinking of modifying a bike pump or something...... I'll Macguyver it....

Yeah, I tried myself.
Nup. Got Mr Birch to do it and he did an awesome job of it!
He may be overseas at the moment?
Now I've got a Hyde sump/pipe guard for such rough missions.

i doubt you'll get it with compressed air... not without making seal fittings on the ends at least and a shitload of pressure.

much safer to do it in the freezer.

surely you must know someone with a chest freezer

I thought I'd give it a go as we have most of the gear to do it at work.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQA71Mbggk4 this guy did it with air and heating it. skip the first 2 mins as he is a retard trying to light the torch....

And if you used a freezer, wouldn't you need to seal it anyway?

only with a teatowel, the water in the ends freezes first as it has a greater water/outside area ratio than the dented area, therefore it creates its own seal. i did it on the pipe on my 125 years ago, worked perfectly

no you wouldnt have to seal it other than a bit of tape to hold water in as the smaller ends will freeze up 1st keeping in the larger areas till they freeze
