im trying to put my finger on it but just not sure what it is or why but its just feels nice and relaxed and safe down here, mc ds tastes better in the south, theres no tagging, the road works are all finshed with in days with no one standing around. there are hardly any winz offices, i still have my wallet, mmm what is so great about the south island i do ask myself. i think it because of something like snow, its white everywhere

The only reason the north is still there is they hitched a rope onto us years ago,
and have been stealing of us ever since.
We could survive quite nicely with out them, but they could not without us

I find that very hard to believe fella, how one of them could tie a knot let alone one that would last years is a bit far fetched.Possibly a South island born Huntaway had the misfortune to be adopted by other isle owners and tired of watching there attempts to do so managed to leap from the blinged out 4wd and showed them how to.

Gee what is up with you whinginging southerners??? Quite frankly that is the ONE thing that I really DON'T like about the people who live in the South Island...

There is good and bad everywhere and an asshole is an asshole no matter where they live.

I was born just north of ChCH and my family moved to Auckland (for job reasons) when I was just a kid...I visit south at least once a year if not more, depending on where the rally is and would happily move back down to ChCh but the whining just never seems to stop and its really getting a bit tired.

At this point in my life I have a great job that ties me to Auckland but I don't see that as hardship cos I am surrounded by great riding roads, 5 minutes and I am in the countryside, another 10 and I'm on the coast...heaps of parks and bush for dogs... and quite possibly the best Thai restaurant in the country is just up the road LOL.

Both the South AND the North Island have heaps going for them. I love riding the South Island roads, I have mangaged to tour for weeks only seeing a couple of cop cars! Whats not to like about that? Also love the scenery, I'm definately an Alpine climate kinda gal...plus I have a few friends to catch up with so any time spent in the South Island is a good time for me:love:

So yeah ...Love the South Island:sunny:

Southerner's are just tennants in their own patch.
Rest of the planets wealthy already own most of the good stuff.
Blame your inbreed family members for that:innocent:

Gee what is up with you whinginging southerners???

actuallys its main the north island that whinges and wines and moans you can hear this far south when the wind is right... ;)

We got no power for 24hrs and its winter while at the same time there was the canterbury 6 ft under snow no power for 3 to 4 weeks
We won't all of NZ to pay for our roads, and we want all NZ to pay for everything else that they will never use...

blah blah blah actually I can hear it now...

I don't think it is whinging. Most of the population lives in the North Island and they receive most of the media coverage, they have most of the MPs, most of the resources go there....I dare say most of the posts here on kb are from the North?

It is probably natural that Southerners feel a bit jaundiced at times. I don't believe it is truly meant to be taken seriously. There are parallels in the Canadian/US situation, or the NZ/Australia one. Well, those are my thoughts.
