Due to imminent financial ruination, I might have to sell my bike. I have the ad all planned out but have not summoned the courage to post it up in here yet - miracles might still happen...I hope...
Anyone else had to do this?

Have you looked into selling something else instead... maybe the wife & kids?

Best of luck with the financial situation. Should the worst come to the worst that bike should be relatively easy to sell.

This is a very good point. You could also look into selling off some of those grandkids. Maybe even all that wine as well ;)
But I would start with the grandkids and work your way up.
The wife was looking at selling her bike and I said it's not costing us really to keep it and because it's only a year old we would take a massive hit for depreciation. I don't know how many times, when she see's another biker riding, tells me how much she misses riding her bike. At least in a few weeks time she can get back on it. She'd be gutted if she sold it. Than again, we're not in the shit. Close with buying everything for the baby but we'll see what happens.

Best of luck to you. I'm not there yet (not far behind if I don't land a contract I'm pushing for though)... Then again, my bike isn't worth that much, so I might have to sell the wife and kids instead!
No prospects of work where you are? (Sorry if a personal question, feel free to ignore).

I'm an "over 60" and male. Both negatives as far as employment is concerned in my experience...
BUT! I just had a thought...maybe I should bill my kids for the cost of their upbringing! THAT would get me some dollars...$$$

Not yet, Rainman. Last time I was between businesses I did talk to them. May as well have talked to the wall...fucking useless they were. Perhaps because I didn't hang around outside their office smoking ciggies all the time...
Mind you, there was one benefit from all this when I was out riding this morning...some little twerp followed me through a 70km zone about two feet from my back tyre, despite me slowing down to encourage him to piss off. I was angsty enough to get annoyed, so when we got to the open road I loosed the demons and gave them the odd nudge with the whip to boot...little buggerface behind disappeared in the rear vision mirror real fast, despite him having his baseball cap on backwards...funny how much better I felt after that...:devil2:

Yep, that's them. Glad you had a bit of fun on your ride, one of the benefits of owning an SV!

I gave it a thought last year but na, no way, couldn't do it....
Now I am looking to spend some of the money that I dont have on it, giving it a paint job.
It will be the hottest CB around.

Hi Slofox, I can only hope it doesn't happen, I've read lots of your posts and you love that bike, with good reason. I sincerely hope things improve for you, hang on in there.

I've had to sell bikes before...usually to fund another bike....sometimes because I can't afford as many as I have. But I never do myself out of a bike to ride.Do you really need a big flash expensive bike to enjoy the motorcycling experience?

Mine's up to 19 this year, still fun to ride.
I had to sell the bike I had many many years ago due to financial and logistical issues, it took me a long long time until I had the 'spare' money to buy another one. Unfortunately once you sell it seems to be a long way down the list of priorities to buy another one.
Or that might just be me, in which case as you were.
