This morning on my way to work heading down Onewa Road, I see a wasp on my visor (visor is down). No problem I think, just swipe it away with a quick flick of the glove.

Not so, the dirty little bugger was on the inside. Boy did I freak, I hate them ever since I ran though a bush and broke a wasp nest apart with my head when I was about 13!!

A rather quick pull up at a bus stop, much waving and he was gone. I must have looked like a right loon to the people watching.

Mate, I know how you feel.

Last night ridin with the visor up... SPLAT!!!

Do not know what is was, but was picking/wiping/washing its legs and what was left of it out of my
eye for the better part of an hour.

Wont do that again anytime soon!

had the same thing happen with a bee a while back, I flicked the viser up and turned my head slightly and it buzzed off.

I then pulled over, took my helmet off and checked it about 7 times to make sure it was gone cos I'm a big wuss.

With my luck I would have done that and ended up with a wasp in the eye!

Well done on not crashing.

Being trapped in a small box with a wasp is pretty much the worst case scenario for me too.

Back in the olden days, before full face helmets, I got a wasp lodged between my forehead and the helmet. Still stands as the world record fastest stop and removal of helmet...

Good trick to remember if you are unfortunate enough to have a 'flying object' go down the front of your jacket. When it stings, make sure you mash it against your chest.

Why?

How do you know if it is a bee or a wasp? Bee's sting only once, wasps will keep on at it!

Experience gave me 3 breasts until the swelling went down.

We've had a few bad stings on the Postie bikes.

Once they get inside your suit they sting till they can see a way out.

I have had the occasional one fly into my suit but managed to squash it before it stung me. Others haven't been so fortunate or skillful.

My worst experience was a bee up my nostril. I thought it was just a fly or something until it stung me. Now that hurt! Reading previous posts I should be grateful it was a bee and not a wasp.

Got one down the front of my jacket last summer, just beat myself on the chest a few times, must have looked a little strange. Bugger getting one up the nose, that would spoil your whole day.
