How on earth do they make those uber cute ads with the pukekos? Just saw one tonight of them "painting" a road crossing for the little pukekos.

Please don't burst my bubble and tell me they're mechanical wind-up ones.....

They kill them,gut em, stuff em, and then film them using stop motion photography.

42 pukekos were killed in the making of that advert.

My understanding is that they were trained by the same guy who organised the dogs for the "bugger" ad. I think that it was the most difficult and time consuming training exercise that he has done.
I am told that he lives out Waiuku way and has done several animal training projects for advertisements.

awww, i heard the song, but didnt watch. bugger. hopefully itll be replayed soon. i love those ads... specially the one with the baby pukekoes with their massive feet. lol.
