View Full Version : Puke 3hr Well done Nicko
Just finished watching the Puke 3 hr shootout on Sky 1. If I wasn't mistaken Nick Odermatt did the 4th best time in the 600 shootout.
Who was the guy on the Kawasaki that went into the bales coming onto the front straight?
Great coverage wish I had Sky at home.
Down the pub 12.30 till 4.30 tomorrow I guess.
Hayden Fitzgerald did the best 600 time and Stroud best Superbike time.

Watched the 3hr shootout and well done NICKO :niceone:
My apologies for calling this a 3 hour race. Its 300km so will be closer to 2 hours I would think
I was standing right before the hill where that big crash was. URG. Felt sick seeing/hearing it, he and the bike hit the wall/bales REAL hard.
SpeedMedic, You were first Ambo on the scene, hows the guy doing? I didnt see him move his legs at all after that. We thought he was a gonner to start with, face down, not moving at all.
Other than that, was a great race to watch.

you guys got me worried I knew two guys racing ZX10 from Hamilton Motorcycles
Fuck all this carnage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The first guy to crash there was a guy called Carey in the shootout on Saturday on the green ZX10. He was ok but didn't race today.
The second one held the race up for some time pacecar and ambo out. The smart guys came into pits and refueled etc.
Have no idea who this was.
Anyway where did Nicko finish in the end?

Hey guys! Wicked days racing.
Really unfortunate that mate Steve went down! he was going really well and i think the old front tyre let him down as he entered the right hander the bike just folded the front, then straight into the wall. Apparently it didnt work out the best, waiting on an update from the hospital (wont be able to put here till after 6pm) but last i heard he couldnt feel below his chest, really do hope its not permanent!
Thoughts are with you Steve!
Logan.
I keep forgetting to look here as most NZ events use this.

Thought Nicko would have finished higher than he did considering his qualifying time.
I see all three top Superbike finishers had 20 second penaltys for passing under yellow.
Thanks for the messages Garry and others, had a wicked weekend but yes the placing wasn't quite what I was after. Have added a report in a new thread that explains how the weekend went.
Carey is ok after the crash, bashed up ankle that looks like just muscle/ligament damage and a bump to the head.
Mike Smith (from Metalform racing who I usually race alongside) had a crash on his R1 coming out of the hairpin when another rider clipped him, a few laps later Mike crashed again coming through turn 1. He's ok but he couldn't get the bike going again.
Great coverage on Sky and nice shots Dave - that's Ross on the bike in those shots, he's got the team Bernard leathers and I've got the Silver Spool leathers.
