I just broke open the piggy bank. I wonder if $1.45 down will secure it?
Nice indeed, but there is the odd factory one that comes up with a good history. EG: A couple of years ago, one of Barry Sheens' bikes was auctioned.
I will sellotape Mr Pig up and re-invest my money until then.

That's quite a piece of kit and what a great stable of bikes to own.

True. With that bike and spares, you would be able to drag it out for trackdays (and the odd early morning suburban run).

Pete....you really need to stay off the computer at work and concentrate on selling bikes! You're only going to drive yourself crazy(er) drooling over this kind of stuff....

I reckon you should talk Steve or Gary into buying it as a display bike for the shop, of course it will need an occasional run in skilled hands........ ;)

pre 82 jnr,

Sorry folks 2 strokes of 2 or more cylinders are restrited to 430cc specifically to keep these bikes (plus some others) in the open class where they would still rule....!

Still 60K US is still dreaming....<$60NZ is about the going rate for a good RGB with reasonable spares.

Really? Can you show us one "going" for that rate?

Trashie, you can buy your own classic racer (magazine)....!

RG's run about 12-17k sterling, dependent upon history, model and condition. Convert that to NZ....add GST if importing ( I have a vested interest in following the price of big strokers like this for a good reason....) . Exworks bikes or big history will go for more (lots at times).

The big problem with the RG's is the cost of parts. The supplies are very limited and those that have them know it...and charge accordingly. 100 GBP for a clutch plate....1200 gbp for a set of carbs....

Whereas big TZ's, the parts supplies are good as people have remade much of the regular use stuff.

http://www.racing-motorcycles.co.uk/sold.phpno prices sorry

These guys are way over priced and most bikes never shift http://www.classic-motorbikes.com/, though this is not that badly over priced http://www.classic-motorbikes.com/stock.asp?Ref=FC37&Lang=en

Therefore when you add the the cost of the spares that RG has...it's not so bad after all yeah? How many cranks does it have...pistons...clutch plates @ 100 ea?

About 10 G's the man said. Even then I think he's asking too much.

Though they were quite rare in the US given the way F1 went over there in the early 80's (on it's face) so very few of the RG's or TZ 500's were ever imported and usually privately out of Europe. A handful of RS500's made it in. The staple diet of the privateer in F1 was the TZ750 and 1025cc superbikes cross entered.

You never know, some one may cough the dough, but get stung a little along the way, not knowing that similar bikes are cheaper elsewhere, though more work to procure.

To true, but these days i've given up on overweight 4 strokes...let alone transit NZ.

But there is a society for the preservation of old two strokes still doing the business.

Co0rrect. It'll look that new too, although it won't have that front guard on it. They dropped that straight one after too much negative feedback.
