How hard is the Full Test - got mine next Monday. I want to be prepared but was told that it is really just a longer version of the Restricted test and isnt that hard. Is there anything I should know that might trick me ?

Not hard at all .. just be prepared to do what is asked of you.

The only thing they asked me to do differently to my restricted when I did mine last year was to pull over to the curb, do a u-turn, pull over again, do another u-turn, then we carried on the way we were going. Didn't ask for hazard identification or anything.

It is longer than the R, but not difficult. When I did mine the first 15 mins or so were spent with him doing the standard check that all was working and rego/wof current etc on my bike then basic handling in the carpark prior to pulling out onto the road. Then I had to pretty much do all the stuff I'd done on my R test but with the inclusion of a full u-turn (not just the cul-de-sac thingy); and after that he gave me instructions to head out toward the airport, went round the roundabout there and to head straight back to the AA office.

Pretty much that was it. I had to get instructions in batches as the office didn't have any working ear pieces at the time, so I was trying to remember all these potential hazzards I passed /saw as I was riding just in case he asked me. Never asked me a thing about it!! But I would strongly suggest that you be prepared for it. Then just remember all the expected things like indicating before pulling over or back out into traffic, through roundabouts etc. (In other words, all the things that are easily omitted when driving/riding normally that we can sometimes get a bit slack on!)

Oh, and make sure your bike is still 250cc or smaller (unless you have an exemption, in which case make sure to have it with you).

Its easy, too easy!
Be relaxed, confident but not cocky, do not exceed the speed limit and ride safely...that is about all there is to it

I passed my full licence in Dec
I could not believe how easy it was.
I had to hire a 250, so was riding a bike I hadnt riden before, bloody thing had forward controls.
The things I was told to watch out for were Indicating ,Head checks & Round abouts, make sure you get your indicating right

& No hazzard ID, thats what I was worried about, (short term memory loss!! LOL)
It was so short, that when the tester told me to go back to the office, I thought I had failed
All over in 20 minutes.

A good point to remember, is to include the testers car in the Hazards that you tell them, they usually follow behind you. Other than that, just ride within the letter of the law, do everything properly, and you should have no worries.

Test is only stage 1. next part is to mortgage the bike to pay the ACC levy to ride said bike.
Give up now - you can't afford it.

just passed mine today in Howick.

No worries. it is not this bad. i had a "whats the hazards" conversation 3 times and some U turns but thats pretty much it.

i have done wrong indicating at rounabouts what this was not a big problem he said.

in the end you will get it.
