The fuel pump on my ZXR400-H race bike has packed a sad. There is a cheap one off a 1997 GSXR750 on trade me. Is there any reason that it won't work on my bike?

If it's not an EFI model it'll be fine (iirc the first EFI GSXR750 was 98 right?).

If it's not an EFI model it'll be fineYep. EFI pumps are high-pressure positive displacement pumps, and conventional lift pumps are internally regulated to around 3-7psi by their design.

A high-pressure EFI pump will shove 60-90psi up your float valve, probably bending its' mechanism or worse, then after it rises to around 300psi it will blow a hose off somewhere or load up, jam solid, and let its' magic smoke out. All vastly amusing outcomes for those standing well back, but usually expensive and otherwise undesirable.

Did Josh (CM2005) loan you one?

Anyhow, I think imdying is right. First Fuel Injected GSXR's were 1998.... I will have a good hunt around for a ZXR400 pump for you in any case... Never know what i might find ;)

Gave mine a tap with a screwdriver and it started working again but was intermittantly cutting out, did manage to finish all races though, but had to start 1st F3 race from pitlane. Went to find Josh but he had shot through (think he had mechanical probs or crashed???) Yeah I used to own a '97 GSXR and it was carbed. If you could russle me up a ZXR400 that would be bloody good mate!

Oh, yes, Josh has mechanical issues too... i think it was. Not a great day for the ZXR400's as it turned out.
Neils had been watching the "Learn to Swim" adverts on the telly.....

The ZX6R however.... What a day we had with that!!! Lee was on fire!

It will be Friday before i can have a look though mate, but will let you know asap.

Yep Lee was on fire, was bloody good watching him in that first F2 race.
Cheers - Chappy has my number if you do find one.

Yes it was. Amazing what a performance improvement the bike gets when the rider gets a little training.... We were calling him Danny California all morning (as he had just done the Californian Superbike School).
We all shut up and had big smiles on our faces when we watched him cross the line........ Now, i'm seriously thinking of saving my pennies, and giving Darren a call.....

I will let Chappy know either way regarding the pump... Or, just PM you....
