I haven't been to Puke race track since 1973... Watched Leo Leonard clean up in his E49 Charger.

Must get back there one day...

Nice pics as usual BD, you're a master with the camera!

Bloody awesome day: some really close racing on some concourse presented bikes. Loved seeing the Briton again and stroudy did us proud with a few laps on it some of which were on the back wheel.....what a bike. The V4 Yamaha sounded freekin awesome!!!!!
Thanks Big Dave, you made my daughters day taking her picture, she expects to see it in the mag now!

Well done to the organisers, no doubt the pressure was on in the admin block but it seemed to run like clockwork from where I was, the place had a real buzz about it. Now if only we could pick all that up and bring it along to national rounds eh!

Cool as. I haven't got to it yet - only as far as the spitfire so far.

Who won the Stroud V Dave Cole shootout? - I was over at Castrol and it was a ding dong over there.

Stroud (thankfully as we were with the person looking after the bike at the time).

Crowd numbers seemed to be similar to last year's Saturday amount. But Schwantz was definitely a huge drawcard last year (hell, we even went for two days instead of the usual one). This year just one, but seems a bit dumb as always spend half a day looking in the pits (with a few walk-byes the parking lot, of course).

Still a great event.

For those unable to make it this weekend, book yourself in for next weekend at Hampton Downs for more Classic Racing.

Hiya, I recorded the sound on my cellphone, no moving stuff, so just have too figure out how to get from there to here! Not sure of what the sound quality would be like. It sure is a 'screamer', so loud!

What a weekend ! Some awesome machines there, there was a green benelli 4 cyl that sounded absolutely astounding.

I was a pukekohe virgin but no longer..

At the prize giving it seemed Sam smith, Jamie Galway, Dave cole and Lee Gourlay were doing a dance of some kind, every time they sit down its time to get up for another trophy..

It absolutely did! It was a four stroke inline-four, the guy stopped at the pit garage where we were set up for a bit of a chinwag after one of his races and talked Benellis with the old man (who is Benelli mad, in fact he had four of them at the meeting ridden by various people, myself included) for quite some time. Gorgeous machine! The orange Harley Davidson/Aermacchi RR350 #55 is still one of my favourites of the event, looks the part and goes like a cut cat. Same goes for Ginger Molloy's Bultaco works machine.

Was there both days, had a fantastic time. Highlight for me was definitely the one race I did get to compete in which was the first race of Sunday, event 31. Started from the back of the grid, entered Castrol for the first time in 13th place after making up some positions off the line. Over the four laps of the race I made my way up to 4th before the bike started losing power due to what is suspected to be a faulty battery so I couldn't quite clinch 3rd and ended up coasting over the line and parking against the armco on the outside just past Jennian Homes. Bonus prize is that I set the fastest lap of the race which really put a smile on the ole dial. :)

Hey Dave, did you manage to get any photos of this bike or any of the Benellis parked up at the first pit garage as you enter the pits from the track?

The V4 is truly an amazing sound !!!!
I see that he's taking off on it, any footage of it doing a lap or 3 ?

Looked up on the net - these put out 44hp at 17,300rpm back in their day. Not bad !!
