You get that with the warmer weather.

Wonder if motorcyclists will make half the road fatalities this weekend too...???

I saw the same behaviour today on the way to Akaroa. I saw a group of idiots on sports bikes overtaking cars on blind corners, crossing about 1m over the yellow lines.

Where were you coming from and where were you going? Did you see what model of bike it was? Going like that along there is pretty stupid, especially on a sunny saturday considering the amount of bicycles out there - some of which are being naughty too, mind. Almost had the pleasure of clipping a lycra-clad space cadet on a corner heading back home up the hill - was in the car, had just been to Lyttleton and decided against riding... too much bloody traffic.

People who blast around at warp factor 9, passing on blind corners, running wide... not only are they seriously scary (I never go the Akaroa road on a fine weekend, it's mad), they are also missing out a whole part of motorcycling if you ask me, if you are that engrossed on the road ahead, just how much of the countryside do you get to see, smell and hear.

hi anthrax, what bike were you on if you were the guy that abused me and gave me the bird, why is there anything wrong with being careful why is it that people always expect you to fly past the cars when you have a sports bike.

Wasn't me ..... I'd give you a wave on my way past! (besides, ew a yellow bike .....)

I'd have to say that here are some nutters riding in Christchurch - apparently they are move evolved than myself as I've yet to master the art of being able to see around a blind corner!

And then there was the guy driving a ute up to the Sign of the Kiwi who went way over into the other lane every time he passed a cyclist - especially around blind corners ..... I was just waiting for a motorcycle to end up on his bonnet.

And to top if off we now need to look out for suicide sheep!

Some wind up getting very up close and personal with it...

I agree that some folk ride for different reasons than others. I wish those who like to "race" would go to a track; but then there are quick but safe riders (who don't overtake on double yellows on the other side) I ride a very sporty bike, but in a pretty relaxed way. Maybe that might offend someone else who thinks gixxers should be thrashed? Who knows.

I enjoy the whole zen-like state of riding as part of my bike, smooth and enjoying the sun and sights of the country side.

While I can understand your rant, it seems rude to me that you come on here expecting the people to be members and then have your little spiel written in a way that seems to accuse everyone that reads it of being one the cockheads that couldn't keep it in their pants.

Feel free to rant, and to make suggestions on how people can be more courteous but don't come on here insinuating that we all ride like wankers - you won't make any friends.
