Can anyone offer suggestions on the best source of piston kits for RG150's, ss150 regs no doubt if strictly enforced require OEM parts but is this enforced?

Given the bikes were built 15 years ago and last sold 12 years ago, the rules were ammended to provide aftermarket or other sources of replica parts. For pistons the max rebore iis 0.5mm
(rule book has misprint saying 0.05).
12-12-4 "parts may be replaced but must not derive a performance advantage"
The rest of the rules go on to describe the external bits such as bodywork, footrests, handlebars etc
where it's sensible today to allow people to make / fix their own stuff, but, again it's their responsibility
to ensure it doesn't give a performance advantage. eg high footrests, light handlebars,
small bore master cylinder etc etc
That's about it. There are various sources of RG piston kits, I have 28 here in stock myself if you want
one. PM with yr requirements incl size if you're interested.

Thanks 7mm, i got a rod kit from the trade me guy, good to deal with but quality of kit was so so, Oyster's piston kits are a little more expensive but being japanese in my mind worth paying the extra for.

I've been rebuilding and servicing Rg 150 motors now for about 6 years. There are 78 on my
"register" down here, most of them racing pretty often. I guess I've done about 50 "blowup" rebuilds in
that time and finally a pattern is emerging of how long bits last and how well they perform. For about 5
years I've mainly used Japanese aftermarket pistons,( NPR) a well known and respected supplier to some
very popular makes, Toyota included. I was offered chinese, malaysian, taiwanese etc but for the small
saving felt it best to stay away from "no brand" items.
The genuine Suzuki is very good, but very expensive too! I guess they have a race life of about 2500Km
NPR about 2000km, which for a busy racer is about 2 years. For both types fatigue is the killer, I've seen
the skirts fall off on both. The genuine ones keep going even when full of cracks. Some have come
out with only remains above the 2nd ring, the rest rattling around in the chamber, the gudgeon pin all
alone in the barrell!
The Wanganuui ones are so far good, but I only have small data, I dont know how many have done
2000km in racing yet. The Wanganui rod kits (I have one) are "no brand" and i haven't tried one yet, I'm
still happy with genuine item, which is good for 5000 - 6000kms racing. (Proven!) Trialling another
type would take a long time to be sure
