Helmet for funny shaped head

I am sure everybody says this, but I really do have an odd shaped head. I have corners on the top at the back. It sounds bizarre and far fetched, but it is true. So, can anybody recommend a helmet for me? The one I have is very uncomfortable, oddly enough it isn't the corners that are the trouble, but my helmet seems to dig into the top of my head. We put extra padding up there, but it hasn't made much difference and has made the helmet too short, so that my chin sticks out the bottom.
Which shop has the best selection and the most knowledge? I am about to embark on a road trip across the big US of A - three months, so a comfy helmet is an absolute must. Up to now, I have only been out on the bike roughly once a month, so an uncomfortable helmet wasn't too bad. The one I have now is a LS2. It was only $129.00, although it has the safety regulations.

Try Cycletreads in Takapuna or Motomail in Ponsonby. They both have a good selection of various types and sizes.

Arai make helmets in three different head shapes, one of which may help with your problem. Of course an Arai will cost more than your
last one. About ten times as much.

On the other hand, I would never have worn a more comfortable helmet...

The models mentioned in that article may not align exactly with what's available here but a good salesperson should be able to help you with that.

If you wait and buy your helmet when you get to the states, you will save loads of cash plus you will get a far better choice.

+1 for checking out Cycletreads, and I cant deny you'd save a buck or two buying it in the states. My money gets spent on Arai's and has done for the last few decades.............ya pays ya money etc.

+1 for Arai. Costs more, but you only have one head.

Having said that, I too had troubles with the fit of my last helmet which gave me headaches. You got to just keep trying them on till you find the right fit.

I have an Arai and a Shoei. The Arai is definitely a better fit and more comfortable and quieter. Bought it in Aussie, but probably a smidgeon dearer than the Shoei.

Buy off shore if you can :)

Thanks all. This is similar to the Ask the Audience in Who Wants to be a Millionaire? If there is a high percentage of one answer, that will usually be the way to go. I am just sorry that I haven't any $$$$ to give you for your input, he he.

+1 for Cycletreads - Try their Shark helmets - they seem to have varible shapes - I found my helmet there and it is much more comfortable (for me) than the Arai and Shoei helmets I tried.
