There was a report in Sundays paper of a Police chase in Eastern Auck recently, three cars plus the chopper pursuing a stolen vehicle.
The vehicle in question was a powered skateboard, checked at a lethal 48 km/h. :ride:
When asked if this wasn't just the yeeniest bit of overkill, the Police Area Commander/ spokesthingy:mega: said, "we treat all stolen vehicles the same". Which raises the question of why they pursued it at all. But I won't pursue that one.
There is also some question as to whether the board was, in fact, stolen.
Another foot gets riddled.

HELICOPTER???
So remind me how long in the air before the fuel, maintenance and manpower bill overcomes the capital cost of the stolen vehicle (i.e. there comes a point, about 10 mins after takeoff where the cost of retrieval exceeds the cost of what's being retrieved.)
Me thinks they wanted extra hours logged... A cra or two to cut the thing off for sure...
but a HELICOPTER???
... ffs... gimme that foot - I wanna riddle it too!

And they couldn't catch it ! :killingme :killingme
I wonder if the "rider" did the scooting along with his foot thing to increase speed. Puts a whole new complexion on "doing a runner"

Stop hassling the cops will you:mad:
Atleast they are now using their own equipment.....
No bloody taxi's or something....... And no they were not chasing the skateboard.... it was a secret test of the latest police transport devices...... the dude on the board was a cop too......
They were testing which was faster.
Car, helicopter or skateboard.
Sometimes you people are sooo stupid.........

The 'rider' was disqualified and believe it or not he was on a 'motor vehicle' and he IS being charged with 'unlwful taking'
The cops were going to call the chase off but the scooters owner said he'd go to the PCA unless they did their job 'properly'
Sorry, my troll-detecting device isn't working :D

Obviously, the skateboard. Brace yourself Messrs Spudchucka and Scumdog. We have some news about the new "official" vehicles
(Notice the only thing they didn't send after it was a bikey cop! )

Fair enough though - the cops should only ever have to do their job properly when threatened with the PCA...
I could have gotten my $150 by reporting it through www.spotter.co.nz

I believe you without hesitation. Funny how the thief said that the owner gave him the board though.
I don't for a minute think the owner might have been threatened with 'aiding and abetting.
Personally, I think the chase co-incided with a report of nudie sunbathers at the local beach. That surveilance gear works a treat on nudies.

He wasn't by chance wearing mid 80's clothing, riding a pink board heading towards a delorean while a catchy 80's build-up tune was playing? :niceone:

Yah but how will the bikey cops know about such stuff if someone doesn't post it here first???

Some of the more "robust' coppers will need one for each foot.
