Hi All

Does anyone know where i could find information/website/videos with training tips/riding technique. I really enjoy my riding but theres certain areas that im not too comfortable - namely steep downhills and fast flats. I really enjoy technical stuff and always blitz people up hills or through mud/gravel but I cant ride fast or downhill to save myself (and i usually end up on my ass!)

I find you can read up as much as you like, but unless you have someone show you its a no win.

Echoing dafydd's post, nothing compares to the real thing! Although someone did post a bunch of really informative PDFs of riding tips out of a mag a while back, I don't have them on this computer, anyone know what I'm on about?

Re Downhills - One tip I heard from a top rider was to treat them like they are flat, but with your weight a little further back and brake a little earlier... works for me until it gets real steep and the fear takes over ;)

Hey there! I've got Dirt Wise with Shane Watts. It's awesome. It shows all techniques right from beginner through to expert! It has river crossings, all sorts! I got mine from Cycle Treds, they had to order it. It was about $40 and well worth it!

I also had a one on one with Chris Birch which was awesome.

A coaching day will help alot. I am still yet to go to one. In my 12 years of motor bike experiance i have found bike time and staying injury free has been the best for me. Nothing worse then putting the hard work in and finding your off the bike for 2 months, becuause that hurts ur confidance and that down time sux. I got concussion twice in 2 months the second time really set me back with ballance couldnt even walk right for a while let alone ride.

Also gym helps alot it gives you that extra strenght to throw the bike around when its needed

As for the downhills i find its best to look as far ahead as possible dont get caught in other people ruts they dont always end well and i use the rear brake alot. Once you get a real good pace you tend to skip alot of hazzards and holes.

I ve done a coaching day with Birchy and was worth every cent!
Im doing another one end of this month at a local farm which has quite technical places to ride.
E-mail him and ask him if he has a place for you on one of his courses. You will get so much out of it you 'll be glad you went.

Have you ever thought about reading your bike manual - it actually has good helpful tips in it too.
