View Full Version : Scratched clear lenses - Will they come out?
I stripped Biff Bird Mk I down on Saturday:
Autocom
Audio Amplifier
Wiring harness for radar detector
Givi Monolock rack
Headlight protector
Clear indicator lenses
All are in good nick, and I fitted the clear indicators onto the new Biff Bird over the weekend. The only problem is there are small scratches on the clear indicator lenses. I'm surprised that's all the damage there is considering both indicator stalks were smashed off during my 'off' at Ruapuna.
So the question is - Are there any magic tricks/commercial off the shelf products out there that I can employ to get these small scratches out?

Try spit???
Try spit???
Done it. Worked on some, but there are still a few smaller scratches left.
It's not noticeable from a distance. But you know how it is - new bike must be pervert/I mean perfect.

Autosol for plastics - then car polish.
And a lot of elbow grease. :niceone:
Braso? used that at school to polish plastics... and fine sand paper with water will help too

Whitening toothpaste is the best damn fine grinding paste out there.

Then follow up with Pledge or Plexus.
There is a dedicated plastic polish for removing scratches, but it's probably expensive and hard to get, so anything like Autosol (or toothpaste, or Autosol toothpaste) that has very fine abrasives would be OK.
Many heaps and bounds of thanks for all the advice. :niceone:
My bike will soon have the shiniest teeth and brass bits in the whole of Nude Seedland.

Autosol.... best thing since sliced bread... (bread wont actually take many scratches out... toast might tho)

I know, I know - but Ms Biff is playing hard ball at the moment. I blew far too much money last week on 'stuff', so she's (quite rightly) put her foot down. So I've a lot of kiss arsing to do.
The original clear indicators come from Clear Alternatives.
Now I'm busy trying to figure out a way to sneak some money out of our bank account to buy a clear rear light cluster. Won't be easy though as Ms Biff is a qualified accountant.

Indeed it is, must have used it 20 times on my watch face. won't take out huge scratches but for fine ones there is nothing better.
