I didn't know it was the norm for woman bikers to be uneducated.
That article was in the press last week, haven't seen her around yet.

I see she looks pretty good in the Uni blurb here too http://www.engf.canterbury.ac.nz/people/ and here http://www.engf.canterbury.ac.nz/pubs/bulletins/CoEBulletin_July09_web.pdf it says she's into diving. A very active chick indeed.
They didn't have Pro Vice Chancellors like that when I was a student there lol.

Yeah, I prefer the blue and white traditional paint work, but I'd still own it.

Pity she rides a Gixxer, but it's hard to find the perfect woman (with a nod to Speights):2thumbsup

Canterbury University's newest pro-vice-chancellor is just as comfortable discussing semi-conductors as she is racing a motorcycle or singing at weddings.
DB misread the word singing and single handedly crashed the Uni mail server.

EWB - Educated Woman Biker
Is this news? I have yet to meet one female biker that was not educated frankly. The fact that a woman appointed to a senior role at a University, who also rides a motorcycle should not be newsworthy at all. What was your point bringing it in here? Hope you are not implying that it is amazing to discover that a woman that rides a bike has a brain?

Take a chill pill!
I hope there are more of her sorts on the next boat to NZ! Looks like the Cougar hunting season this year is going to be a good'n!

Mom what's that chip on your shoulder?
I think this is very newsworthy indeed. If the Prof had been Jim and not Jan it would still make a story that the new 52 year old prof was a good looking racy biker and diver. People in those level of positions are newsworthy.
Much like MP's, you'll remember much was made of Ric Barker and Phil Goff being bikers.
Besides, Jan is a very photogenic 52 year old, and educated - yes for sure, hard to beat her credentials.
R6-kid you'll have to fight off that fellah she said she has.

Hopefully the next arrivals will be free roaming!
Something tells me I'm going to have to survive an attack from Mom before I go out on any hunting trips.

No I was not trying to offend anyone, I do apologize for that, just merely bring to attention and to discredit most ‘non bikers’ opinion that all bikers are from a lower educated demographic group.
Yes I could/ should have chosen a better title as you have rightfully pointed out, but even you have to admit it did stand out and has generated some interest, all be it focused on the youthfulness of her appearance.
However what most ‘in my circle’ have commented on is “good for advertising” if we have an individual in this capacity or level of community status and rides a motorcycle we all therefore can’t be tarred with the same brush... can we?

Nothing wrong with dragging out my perspective on these kind of stories, infact I thank you, I feel an urge that has been sadly missing for the last little while. I agree actually, with publicising the fact that motorcycle riding females are smart, educated females. We come in different shapes and sizes just the same as the blokes. You have also alerted me to the fact that for some weird reason I am seeing code instead of punctuation!

Huh, what's this code stuff? I'm sure it wouldn't confuse the Prof though.
I am happy that Mrs merv is also an educated woman biker that looks young for her age, so helps the statistics, but neither of us are quite as educated as the Prof.
