Last night at about 8.45pm someone in a grey 4x4 (likely a land cruiser) went through the Hunua Gorge, heading from Papakura to Hunua towing a large tandem axled trailer.
While I can't be certain that they are responsible for the many pieces of debris left scattered on both sides of the road from the Quarry Entrance for about half a K towards Hunua I can be certain that the two occupants of said vehicle did stop on the jones road metal shoulder and hurriedly go back to their trailer.
Seconds later my wife, a learner rider was lying hurt on the road after hitting one of about 20 pieces of car suspension parts(most likely a coil over spring) She had on coming traffic, was slowing because she had seen me stopping, saw a round thing in her path, couldn't swerve, hit it square on and was thrown horribly to the road.I heard and saw this happen to my baby.
I want those bastards!.
Without exception the first 10 cars who stopped to assists us, all told of hitting large metal objects strewn about the road, even the attending Police and fire guys hit shit.
Her bike is a hell of a mess, her gear is all US cept her leather jacket that'll go again with battle scars.
Helmet stopped her ripping her face off but broke.
Gloves torn to shreads on the road.
New Cordura trou ripped through.
Seriously if anyone out there saw that combination on the Hunua road last night and can help me identify them I'd be extremely grateful. Course I know the chances are very slim, but if I dont ask? an if someone does come up withe them, the Police, Swann Innsurance (who have been fantastic today) and I want to have meaningfiul discussions with them.
Shes down but shes not out.

One of the people who stopped was a nurse she helped without fuss or bother, was amazing I've always believed that was a nurses primary function.LOL Cheers.

Bastards!! Could have been so much worse, too. Like the poor bugger that died after hitting spilt engine oil on the Taupo road last year.
Yet it is so easy to secure a load.
Hope your wife is recovering well.

10th February 2010, 14:00
That's a really suck thing to have happen to you both. I hope she gets back on the bike and she has a speedy recovery.
Also hope these vile litterbugs get apprehended and prosecuted. Not only was it a dangerous hazard it's extremely irresponsible for any driver to been losing their load!!!

Pore thing. What a horrible thing to happen to a learner lady rider. Thats very sad.

Holler if you need a hand sticking one of those suspension parts up their fucken nose.

Bummer mate.
Lucky escape by the sounds of it.
Has that stopped your plans for this weekend?

10th February 2010, 14:27
See if you can get your hands on some of the crap they dropped. It had to have come from somewhere and be going somewhere, so I reckon it holds a clue, especially if it's not common stuff.

I can't help, sorry; but I hope your wife will be feeling better very soon.

I hope you find the bastards respoonsible.
I never could understand why some people give no thought or care to others.

I hope your wife heals well and is soo back on the road. What an awful experience for you both.

Oh no, poor Mrs Caseye! :( I hope that the people responsible are found soon, and, most importantly, that Mrs Caseye recovers and gets back in the saddle ASAP.

If they are using a trailer to haul metal bits to and from somewhere they may be doing more loads tonight, I`d suggest heading back there to see if you find them.

10th February 2010, 16:04
Hope wifey can get back on that horse asap. Geetong her head around it will e the main challenge.

I'd be super pissed off too. Hope your efforts lead somewhere.

Good luck.

 Jeebus, that ain't good to hear mate. Thank gosh that your missus had the gear on and managed to survive that experience relatively intact! Blardy heck, can only hope some bit of info turns up and retribution comes swift upon those responsible. :angry2:

That sucks, Caseye. No doubt your wife will be feeling quite sore and very upset. Pass our regards on to her, and best of luck tracking these idiots down. They deserve everything they get.

Best wishes for a super recovery; sounds like some low lives dumping old car parts - prob illegally, you may find a disgruntled Land Owner nearby to team up with...

Mully
10th February 2010, 17:56
Holy shit - that could easily have been worse.

All the best to the Mrs and good luck catching the idiots.

So sorry to hear about G's accident, and thank goodness you were there with her.
I too hope that gains are made in locating those responsible for the debris and that they get their comeuppance.

Given that she is such a careful rider I'd hate to think what might have happened if it had been a faster rider haring through there.

Might pop in after school tomorrow to see how she is (had a yak on the phone earlier this arvo).

Pass on my best wishes to her. If you find the arseholes, perhaps we could have a weekend at their place. :bash:

Best wishes for a speedy recovery (especially the psychological one) and well done on making sure she had all the right gear needed to come out the other side without being irreversibly maimed.

Good luck catching the wanker that dumped all the claymores Mark, and give me a call if I can help out with anything.

That really sucks mate, Hope all is well as it can be

Have you thoight about checking out the scrap metal dealers, they may be doing runs to them , You need photo ID to sell scrap and they have records of who has sold what.
I work over the road from a scrap dealer and some really dodgy over loaded trailers turn up there.

Caseye, sorry to hear of your wife's accident. Please tell her that we are all feeling for her and wish her a speedy recovery. Thank god she was wearing all the gear.
Too many of these inconsiderate bastards out there at present. Often difficult to trace, usually using unwarranted and unregistered vehicles too. I hope someone can finger them, so you can nail the bastards.

I'd never condone such a thing, I'd do it myself and prevent my freinds from getting implicated.
Many thanks everyone, wifey is slowly straightening up and moving a wee bit more freely.
Got to say that, Swann Insurance have been fantastic.
Bike will go away for assesement tonight.
Police, fire fighters and Ambo's who turned out all did bloody fantastic work and were all extremely upset at the cause of my baby's accident.Everyone one of their vehicles (three Police cars, three fire engines and one ambulance) also ran over car parts scattered randomly all over the road.
To answer the question.
One of the guys who stopped did continue on from the crash site all the way into Hunua(about 3-5 K's he didn't find anyone).
Almost without exception everyone who did stop to assist us had also run over large pieces of metal, fortunately they were in their cars and while it scared them it didn't cause them to come off their near new beautiful little motorcycle and get quite badly hurt.
Once again thanks for the support while the wife hasn't been up to sitting at her puta I'm sure that when she is and does see all that you have said and offered such solid support that she will be overwhelmed.(nicely of course)

No worries, it's so damn hard being there but not involved I desperately wanted to go get those barstards, i could have caught up with them, only been about 1 maybe two minutes since we saw them stopping on the other side of the road a bit further back.
Karma may take a while but I believe quite firmly that it does HAPPEN.
I just hope I get to hear about it when it does.
Little Lifan is in great hands now and will be back good as new / or better soon.

Little Lifan back in the stable and had her first shakedwon cruise with wifey on board and in full control! Great day today, wifeys bike is back and running oh so well, Panmure Motorcycles could not have done a better job!
Many thanks to our friends and supporters out there, Gillian rode over 100 miles today and never missed a beat, still quite nerveous but that is to be expected.
All road types and conditions experienced, she handled them all well and without fuss.
Glad of a mate to talk to at Kaiaua, nice to catch up Sharper me ol mate, the wife listened to what you told her about bike control.
Off to tell Swan they better go pay the repairer asap for a fantatic job well done.

Just so this thread doesn't simp[ly vanish into the ether.
Since getting her bike back wifey has commuted to work as often as posible, nom worries with the bike, repairs all 100% and shes goings great.
Ratbag (G) is riding here and there again, without me most of the time(thats how it goes at the moment) I do still worry about her being out there without me, but hey she's riding in all sorts of shitty weather and doing fine so it's all good.
These PRICKS will surface and when they do i hope their nuts get syphillated and fall of slowly!
Please guys and girls keep your eyes and ears open.Any whispers to me pronto.I will take it from there.
