Well i was recently back in the UK... nearly never made it back here and all because I could be much MUCH better off financially over there...
On a good day the exchange rate is 1 GBP to 2.5 NZD... I figured that may well correlate across the board... oh how wrong i was!
Mortgage Interest Rate here: say 6 percent for arguments sake
In the UK: 0.35%
WTF!!! Anyway, I missed you all, so we came back... HOME.

When I was going to Japan a bit I noticed that their interest rates across the board were very low, common to find loans at anything from .9 to 4%. Then I saw the interest rates paid on savings. Can't remember exact numbers but it was less than .5%
