Head gasket parted company with the block, nothing to serious, just needs to have gasket sealant applied this time. ( dealer mechanics)

I drained the gearbox oil to make sure no water had gotten through.

Is it alright to leave it with no oil in the box till I have the time to do the gasket - could be months ?

(just wondering if crank seals etc are best to have oil around them - its in a dry warm part of the garage at mo)

Cheers

I'm confused coz' i can't understand why you would want to check the gearbox oil if its a blown head gasket? Two stroke gearbox's are seperated from Barrel/crankcases.

But however, two stroke main seals don't like to be dry and the only way to avoid that is to keep them running.Head gaskets aint much $ so get her back out where she belongs.

Or if its definately going to "sit around" order a base gasket and take the barrel off and have a good look at bore/piston and rings. Also crank.(hopefully no coolant got in eh)

Hey it's (was) Valentines day...give her some loving.;)
