But the only problem now is, where do I start with her. I've tried teaching her to ride on a mates 125, unfortunately it's not the best thing for us if we want to maintain a happy relationship, 'nuff said . . .
She has a full D/L and is a keen mountain biker so I don't think she will have too much of a hard time, however she's quite shy so I was thinking of suggesting a riding school. However I dont really know where to start to get her "started" . . .
Also, am I better to get her a newish bike or an older bike, was thinking a 250cc would be best, but for some reason she wants a 150 or 125, which I guess is better than a scooter, but im really at a loss here. Can anyone suggest where I mite want to begin, etc? . .

Bring her along to a KB social event and some of us gals will take her under our wing  I know you said she is shy but...well we're not so it could work. :D

Get her a street legal trail bike. She'll enjoy the crossover from mountain bikes and learn skills you tar babies never thought of. An XR 200 or similar. :ride:

yeah street legal trailey, I think XR250 is the smallest street legal XR isn't it tho?
otherwise a small 250cc cruiser,
re-enforce the 'always wear your gear' and be a good role model for it, my legs and arms can attest to that still a year on from when I layed a F4 Evo3 down in diesel at a roundabout

Now there's a good idea, think I'll just start on the gear and "ease her into it" . . :niceone:
Something that's not going to scare the living day lights out of her, but 'pokey' enough to being a smile to her face, and avoid boredom. It must instill confidence, so avoid anything sporty where her arse is higher than her head (!) as she may have a problem with gettin used to its handling. How about a mini cruiser. I'm crap with NZ models (apart from Rachael Hunter - grrrrrrr), so I can't help with this side of it.
How about a ChCh ride - this weekend. Akaroa maybe?

mmm akaroa gp, yeah.
you gotta post some times mate. so the rest of us can sorta like just turn up out of the blue like and pretend we knew nothing about it.
theres more kiwibikers in chch than first meets the eye. we just dont rabbit on so much as those wellingtonians.
mate, if a gn 250 scares her then youll be looking for an rd150 or sommat.
they can in theory do 100 with a tail wind and being chucked out of a plane at 30,000 feet... ok maybe not.

All depends on what sort of bike she wants and the price range you guys are looking at.
If she's into the cruisers the there is the Marauder. Mrs H had one and from what Hitcher has said loved it.
If she's more keen on the full fairing there's the GSX250 (notice no 'R'). It's doesn't have as much power or pull as all the rrr's but is still able to handle itself.
If she's keen on a nekkid sportsbike, there's the VTR or the Bandit, or Zeal (Hitcher loved his and so did JRandom).
As for the learning aspect just send her to one of those day courses. So she gets her handling. Then after she's got her learners she can go test ride some of the above mentioned bikes and find out what fits best.
Just let her get what ever she wants.
Haven't you learnt anything yet ? lol.

Yes, but then whatever you get her will be *wrong*. "OK , fine..."." It doesn't matter". "If you had any sensitivity for my feelings you wouldn't expect me to ride around on a bike that *TOTALLY* clashes with my colours"
