Seen it on Campbell Live tonight, the Creme Eggs are now coming from Pomgolia and no longer made in NZ. The call is for a boycott of Cadbury products. The adults interviewed don't like the new taste, the kids didn't care because they eat anything sweet.
Go Whittakers!! All the way from Porirua :woohoo:

Indeed.
Having visited the Cadbury factory for a few days in the late '90s (installing software, doing training), I think it's very sad that the factory's been downsized and production shifted offshore.

I'll chime in here on my .02:
We'd get Cadbury cream eggs in the States for Easter. I liked 'em yeah but never really went out of my way to get them.
I was never aware of Whittaker's until one day a Kiwi friend here in Taiwan frantically called me and told me to rush to my nearest 7-11 convenience store and buy a peanut slab.
I did so and found that with a few exceptions, Whittaker's is the best peanut chocolate bar I've ever, and I mean, ever, had.
Now, what you must realize about Taiwan for this story to make sense is that anything that's actually good and sells well, is done for. As in, Whittaker's was sold here for a couple of months, every foreigner I know would buy many of them at a time from the store, but now there is nary a one to be found anywhere.
I'm actually drooling thinking and wishing we could get them again here in Taiwan, until then this will have to do.

P.S. Don't suppose any of you lovely folks would airmail a couple my way eh? Worth a shot... ;);)
Oh and here's a good read about Whittaker's and Taiwan. http://www.nzte.govt.nz/press-room/NZTE-Press-Releases/Pages/Kiwi-favourite-Whittakers-Peanut-Slab-stocked-in-Taiwan-7-Eleven-stores.aspx

You know that Cadbury was sold to Kraft and the same thing is happening all over the world - lots of their chocks for the European market are made in Polish factories.

I myself am glad that Creme Eggs are being made in the UK.
As a pommie myself, I will appreciate the fact that, somewhere in a factory in trhe UK, a man recently arrived from Somalia will be rubbing his willy around the top of them before he puts the wrapper on.
How's that for a personal touch...

My pommy husband would have loved the idea of the eggs being made in Blighty, He used to eat 3-4 of them every day while he was out and about working. Cant stand the wretched things myself.
If I was forced to eat chocolate, and it would have to be forced....give me real chocolate with no sugar. CommonSense organics here in Welly have a tiny bar that is 100% cocoa solids. now THAT is chocolate.

Great news, should taste good then

All we need is for them to bring over Cadburys Caramel, and get rid of that Caramello Shite:woohoo:

Hence the name change - Cream Eggs.

Too right! How do you think the white creme gets inside in the first place -> money shot.
Cadbury's have downsized their king sized (into a measly 200-220gms). I will only buy Whittakers from now on.
Whittakers - do not downsize your 250gm blocks!

I missed them last year when Air NZ dropped them from their lolly mix and replaced them with Milk Bottles, a lolly I don't think tastes so good.

Surely it would be "from Poland"... There was a UK joke about Hitler now having to march WEST and cross the Channel, to invade the new poland...
I work across the road from the Whittakers factory in Eldson, Porirua,
For goodness sakes! Please go over there and tell the bosses how important their product is and that they are NOT to change it. Cadbury's have lost the plot completely!:woohoo:

its very much an acquired taste though.
I havent bought any cadbury product since they dishonestly downsized, then fucked up the taste.
I quite like the Trade Aid 72%, and the Scarborough Fare 70% and of course Whittakers. I particularly like Almond Gold, and if I am in a sweet mood I like that Coconut slab. A lot.
I'm a chocolate snob though.

It's not the downsizing that's the problem, it's downsizing and still charging the same that annoys me. A lot of things are too big these days, all going this 'value for money' thing, no wonder why so many people are fat. Have you seen the size of the large drink at Wendy's these days? It's downright fucking disgusting. Cut the serving size AND the price to match.
Whittakers does taste way better though. I changed and I'm not going back to Cadbury's.
