How much to ship a car to NZ?

I want to know how much a dealer pays to ship a medium sized family car from Japan to NZ. I know I can ask the dealer (!) or a shipping company.....but

Car about 1.4T, < 14mcubed
How do they get here - how many to a container?

Any car dealers willing to share ? I had a quick look online and all I can find is a $900 USD unit rate,

Short answer is:
Not a lot are in containers from Japan - most come on RORO (roll on-roll off vessels)
Give Kiwi Car Carriers a call for rates.
