Hi

im from over the pond in the UK, but my bro lives in Christchurch and he is looking to get himself a 250, any ideas of good ones to get or do you know of any good deals around his way?

So far he has been looking at the Hyosung 250gtr and the Yamaha V Star 250.

Cheers

Tell him to join up and ask for himself!

I do'nt like hyo 250s. Pretty gutless compared with even my old 1992 ZZR 250 (it would run circles round the hyosung). The 650s are'nt as bad but that does't help!

Really an older 250 is probably better. I'd say he just wants the hyo because it's new and looks a lot flasher than it is. If he has to buy a flash new sports, then the new 250 Ninja would be a better option.

CheersHaven't heard much about the yamaha but only heard bad things about the hyobags (blown motors at low ks etc)

There's nothing wrong with the reliability. The very first ones had some issues. And then there's the odd one about which has an issue, which is the same as the other manufacturers......there's always going to be the odd one that lunches itself.

There's a lot more around with high kms with no issues than broken down ones.

cheers yeah ill tell him to join.

na reason he was looking at Hyosung was cause of the finance deals going, dont think he has the money for a lump sum payment and im not sure how easy it would be for him to get a loan over there.

I think the VTR250s look alright for what he is after, he is just gonna get rid when he gets his full licence and getting something bigger i would imagine.

you boys seem to have a fair few old 250s over there that look like they pack a punch, gixxer 250 and cbrr250 look alright, but they are all really old.

but i think he wants something a bit newer than that.

The old 250s are pretty bullet proof, but I understand his want for something new. The older 250s are faster than the new ones......if that makes a difference to him.

VTRs are great, as are Hornets if he's into that style.

If he's dead set on a new sports bike i'd definitely recommend the Kawasaki Ninja. They're pretty cool little bikes. Oh and yeah, he'll be able to do finance on it too!.....

na he aint set on something new its just the finance is available on them which is why he was looking i think yeah i mentioned the 250 Ninja but he said they are a bit pricey for him.

maybe a loan and a VTR then if he can get it sorted. he just wants somthing to get him from work and back and that he can go for a cruise on every now and again.
