View Full Version : The Apprentice New Zealand

I love the apprentice. and I can see why a lot of very successful people would take a drop in wages to work for Donald Trump (love or loath him - the guys a legend in NY).

But - I just know that the Apprentice NZ is just going to be a disaster. We are going to take a show and do the entire thing on a budget of $6.

It needed to be lead by someone like Graeme Heart (not that he would even consider doing it) - then perhaps you would get top of the line people fighting to learn off the master.

Not a pack of drongo's fighting over a good but not fantastic salary (and Im betting its only for 12 months)

Must see viewing Im sure - but only for the cringe factor.

+1

Fun - but couldnt make a series with him in it. None would last more than 10 mins.

nope. But in fairness a) I think Soccer is a girls game and b) I have no interest in his business - hes sucessful (a lot more than me) - but a lot less than a lot of people who would be far better at this than he is.

watched it last night.

Teams did a sausage sizzle. yawn.

Loved the 'package' of $200k - for a one year contract - including the value of the apartment for 12 months and the lease cost of the BMW (sponsors) car. So cash = $100k.

Top young business minds of NZ are earning more than that anyways.

Still - one of the girls had great tits.

Yeah I cracked up at that.....their big challenge was to do a sausage sizzle!!

We spend tens of thousands recruiting from NZ and overseas to get our staff (high level of specific skillset required).

Think of the money we can save by just heading outside the Warehouse on a Saturday morning and just grabbing the chick pumping out the most sausages.

I had to laugh at the context of the whole thing last night.
all he said was "team with most money wins"
I would have sold the bbq, and sent the team off to work for the day - easily bank a couple of grand. Competition won.
But then again this is "reality tv"

Keep watching - I've heard they flog all sorts of shit later in the series....

If I'd known there was a girl with nice tits, I would have MySky'd it and fast forwarded it to that bit. Damnit. Hindsight, huh?

I thought most of the girls were hot, and one or two hot and bitchy.

Oh yeah.

If I were the man with the power I would at least have let the girls "sleep" their way out of trouble.

Yeah shit for brains, these supposedly top guns of the country. They couldn't even sell sausages and bbq properly without cockups.

Wonder what other assignments they'll face.

They are all young between 21 and 35 I think.

Sounds like a bloody joy ride than a job interview, where do I sign up for the next one. I am in the age bracket with the right quals and work experience minus the 200k package which I wouldn't mind for a year. Doo be doo be dooooo...

 Yeah I read in the paper recently about how he was once again in trouble for not paying his contractors - I remember the last time I heard this his beautiful convertible car was filled up with Paint

On the note of the show - some of those twits they got are just jumped up wet behind the ears arrogant tosspots. Have come across FAR more professional and talented individuals in UnZud.

STILL it's all about ratings and crazy, weird, stupid freaks get good ratings...just watch Survivor OR Hells Kitchen OR any other reality TV show -- full of crazy bastards

I suppose every multimillionaire has a owed to creditors story like every fisherman has a story.

Apparently he's worth NZ $150 mil.

Not bad aye.

Actually he has sent a LARGE number of contractors to the wall with his building projects due to his payment methods..... But he always walks away with a profit.

Either case has built up a fortune and is a successful businessman.

Who would have been a better Kiwi Donald Trump?

Ya see this is where it gets hard for me because I don't actually give a shit and REALLY I just wish there was something else on TV in that time slot so I could vege out to it

So no I don't have another suggestion - I was merely commenting on the choice made. I meant to offer nothing productive to continue the discussion it was just a funny story to share - and 'successful in business or not' I think he is a slimy arse.

But that's just me :) though I suspect I am not alone

The PR job done on terry is a massive one, his biggest success has been staying alive and out of jail this long. Not paying contractors is his nice side. If you ask around in wellington or government agencies you will soon start to hear some terry storys that his PR people would not like heard.

There's quite literally another 100 channels to chose from instead of moaning about 1 programme that's running on 1 channel. Overall something like this is good for NZ and there are lame programmes on air like Shortland and Coronation Street.

Few contractors not on his nice side as you would expect with a prominent successful businessman but many more lining up to work for him and get paid.

Indeed and I exercised that choice pretty soon after I started watching it;..Anyway don't get upset -- it's the KB way to moan about shit you don't really give a shit about anyway ;)

Trump is one of the few people that I REALLY JUST CAN'T STAND IN THE SLIGHTEST. YES I"M SHOUTING. I HATE HIM THAT MUCH!!

I think he's an unimaginative twat. Yes he may have worked his ass off to get what he has, but I just can't stand stale people. Give me personality any day. I would have loved to make it on one of his shows just to "fall asleep" in a meeting to see what his reaction would be. Alas, I'm not even remotely talented enough to sniff the shoes of those that have been on it. And, of course, I would never do that because he does deserve some respect to his face. I suppose he would actually be ok if someone said, "sorry, not a fan mate". He seems straight up.

I did cringe when I saw the ad for the NZ version. I contemplated watching it for the candy but thought I'd much rather watch...well...I don't even know when it's on so obviously something is better on the other channel.

Ya can't do a commerce degree, it is just plain sense.

Ya can't fix a problem that doesn't exist.

Ya wait till they are employees till ya treat them like that (maybe other employers)...
