Chew the fat about traveling to, staying, and traveling home here.
Herding cats would be easier, but give it a go anyway.

I'll kick it off.
I'm planning on a Fri morning exit out of the Tron taking in a few free flowing bits of gravel down.
I'm interested in sharing a room with the Brazilian female volley ball team.

Female with a brazilian or brazillian female? Maybe it doesn't matter......
Me....I'm still trying to scrape up enough cash to actually attend which is a bit frightening but it will be a friday trip down, gravel & the 42nd I expect, I'm hoping to try Whanganui valley this time but it's a bit of a diversion.
There is also the possibility that I could trailer down (shocking I know) if others want to join in...and I might be camping..I'm serious about the budget bit, I added up tyres, fuel, food & accommodation and get to near $800.
Weather dependant, home via the Wairarapa on sunday, I wouldn't mind going up the Gentle Annie and back but it all depends on state of body & weather.
Brazillians..not me I just need a decent nights sleep!

If you're referring to the Wanganui river road it's a good ride and worth it.
Is everyone camping at the school Saturday night or planning on staying in hotels/motels?

If at all possible, I'd like room/cabin.
Last year Struan kindly offered a bed in the motel room they had booked.
Bliss to fall into after Fri night route sheet "drinkies", and then a nice pillow to massage the rapidly developing hang over from the Sat night gig.
Fook i'm getting old.
6 bed room could be worth a look.
Bulk farting though:sick:
Actually, the tent sounds pretty good.

No the Whangaehu Valley is what I meant, parallels the Turkino valley south from Ohakune, I've never ridden it so thought it was worth a shot.

I will be there, most likely trailer the bike down on friday Arvo.
But would be quite keen to do a ride somewhere on the sunday as well. Should make the most of travelling all that way and have more than 1 days riding.
Maybe Eddie or Marks could be our tour guide for the sunday ????????

The publisher is renting a bach (crib?) up the coast from Plimmerton about 20km.
Not a bad idea - there's a website called Book A Bach -http://www.bookabach.co.nz/
There's even a couple in Plimmerton.

Well i PLAN to leave aucks Friday, Ride the thing with 2 wheels to Rotorua (trailer free zone), Pick up the brother - He can ride his hopefully together bike by this stage. Hopefully by this time the woman who has never been adventure riding wont have killed me - or me thrown her off the back for kidney punching me due to ride style.....
Hopefully by Taupo - brother will still have knobs on his back tyre and that i wont have been getting hit with rubber bullets all the way....
Any ya never know, we might meet some fellow bike riders along the way! following someone that thinks or hopefully knows an interesting route to the venue!
Accommodation will be provided by a number of 5 star hotel rooms, othewise known as... TENTS!
This is a depression after all, and i am unemployed!
Will be a great weekend!
Anyone got any jobs??????

i would recommend a loop around north range road, past the mighty windmills.. its on the way down and you wouldn't need to back track at all..

Finally booked Ferry sailings, borrowed some $$$ to do it. Entry fee is next on the list then pay back the money borrowed for the ferry, oh crap I still need a new rear knobbly too.
Anyways J and I are crossing Picton to Wellington on Interislander Kaitaki Friday departing Picton at 1:10pm, arrive Wellington at 4:20pm. Couldn't go earlier because of other commitments on Thursday evening so we'll leave ChCh Friday morning, ride up and cross the straight in time for the Briefing/roll chart pasting thing.
Obviously I'm not going to be there in time for any extra touring this trip.
J is going to go visit Te Papa again while I'm off doing the ride.
Returning Sunday, departing Wellington on the same boat 8:25am and home in time for tea that night if all goes well.

If anyone is keen, a night in the Orange Hotel in the Akatarawa's could be arranged. A good opportunity to pre-dirty your bikes before the big ride. Nice budget accomodation, just need sleeping bag (and for those that need it, a pillow) and some food and drink.

Sounds like a plan to me, a definate starter for that one.
Sunday is a better day for a ride rather than Friday, just in case anything happened.
Wouldnt want to miss the CCA due to accident or breakdown.

Leaving Christchurch Wednesday. Crossing the straight Friday. Few things to do on the way. Via Blenheim then Nelson. Senic route as much as time allows.
Any of the Nelsonites know the current situation with getting to the ferry via Mangatapu Friday morning? Don't want to cause friction where it is not wanted.
Thanks

Wire ropes across the track at the caretakers at the Nelson end and at the summit.
No problem for bikes if you're careful lifting them.
About 1hr max to Pelorus via the Maungatapu or 35 min or so via the Wangamoas and Rai.
