looked on the net for some decent womens leather jacket...just to see whats out there. Its the price and style that fucks me over royally...I'm lookin for the perfect jacket around the $250 range....its like lookin 4 the perfect guy.. I know..I know therez no such thing as the perfect guy, I mean therez beta chance finding big foot. Point is, there so much style and range when it comes to mens leather jackets... some of the jackets affordable in my range is some light pink shit jacket. Fuck pink aye...I'm not pissed off...I'm happy riding my bike not wearing leathers, as long as I'm riding its fine.
my 2cents worth of venting...feelz gud.
perfect guy would be: one that cooks, one the cleans, one that takes me out shopping.....and they should neva meet.

$250 is a pretty small budget for a quality leather jacket imo. You might want to look at spending some more, I mean how often do you buy one? Once every few years? Pretty good value for money when you look at it that way.

If you like the guys jackets , just get one of them ,as long as it ,fits properly( I know you's has different bits from us guys) but you may still find something you like that fits in your budget. Be careful out there, skin versus road looses everytime.

There will never be a "Perfect" ladies leather jacket, not while the manufacturer is manufactureing protective gear and women are shopping for fashion items that will make a 75kg frame look 57kg
two girlie friend met after a few years and began discussing boy friends...one of them had two boyfriends....Theres Jake, that cooks, cleans, takes me out shopping, listens to me when I am down and leaves the seat down.....and I have Ben.
Goodness says the friend, Jake sonds fantastic, why bother with Ben?
Ben?...well he is straight....

Not an easy mission that one, have a look at
www.lifestyle-imports.co.nz
They make a lovely womans jacket, actually cut to female shape.

I just bought a very nice rev-it ladies jacket...$700 but well worth. Unless I balloon in size it will be lasting be ages, bar slding down the road in it which I hope never to do. I think when you're buyin a jacket that will protect you in a fall/slide then money shouldn't be the issue. Might just take a bit longer to pay for.
good luck with your search for the perfect man...the perfect one for you

Went out there in the weekend with a lady friend who was looking for both jacket and pants.
Nothing looked even half decent. It was a terrible cut and style. She left with nothing and ended up spending an extra $150 at motomail for a real good fitting jacket.
That seemed to be money well spent in my opinion.

I'm actually quite impressed with how much womens gear there is out there, some shops don't stock a lot, but it is definitely available on the market, especially when you weigh up demand compared to guys stuff. Personally when buying bike gear I go for what fits and does the job within a price range (I would expect to pay at least $500 for a good leather jacket, and that would be a bargain, more like $800), so I often end up buying guys gear anyway, still fits good and will do the job as I'm not concerned about having pretty pink writing on it telling the world it's an Alpinestars jacket or whatever.
Check out some stores online and see what's available then ask your local bike shop if they would be able to get it in for you (or import it yourself, shhhhhh, I didn't say that).
Good luck.

Up The budget or you will end up with some crap jacket that will have all of these issues
1/ Poor leather grade
2/ Bad stitching number and thread type
3/ Non Skin safe chemicals for the tanning process (this is a biggy sweat inside a jacket treated with shit chemicals and you are going to get a nasty rash)
4/ Counterfeit CE armor
etc
You need to spend more sorry

There is a lot of gear out there in shops that are not that expensive, not well advertised either ... which keeps the price down. The best idea is actually get out and look in all the bike shops ... which is half the fun of buying new gear ... isn't it ... ???
Either that or Trade Me ...

Do you have to have leather? I got my dodura tecknic jacket about 5 years ago. It has survived a fair few incidents and is still going fine. I paid between $200-$250 for that.
Stop looking for the perfect guy and you'll find him! ;)

Mate don't compromise your skin and bones by budgeting for $250, if you have to pay something off for quality and protection then do it.
I used to wear a cheap nice looking jacket that would've done nothing If I'd impacted the road, and my leather pants looked great, but again no protection from slow speed slides or high speed.
I know better now, and never again will I compromise my safety and my life over a few dollars - when I am the sole Master of it.
There is a good range of chicky gear, go out and check your local shops...
Oh yea, good luck in finding the perfect guy...... (What str8 said)

There's heaps of ladies gear now!
There's not as much as mens......that's because more men ride!
Try 1 tonne. They are pretty good.
I know there's good gear and selection because i've been out shopping for this stuff with the Mrs. We went to several different shops, and found what she needed, really nice, non-little girl yet feminine gear. Not girly buy fitted for women.
It was I , who had to look online to get what I wanted.

700 for a revit? You would be very very close to a custom made jacket for that, where you can specify EXACTLY what you want, style ,pockets length etc etc. This from the man who many many moons ago made me my jacket, and recently altered it for 100

For a decent leather jacket around that price range you might wanna try trade me for a second hand one, not 'perfect' I know but I'd rather have a decent second hand jacket that'll do its job rather that one thats fashionably cut but useless when it counts.

That is very good advise, there is a great deal of cheaply poorly made and treated leather gear here in NZ at the moment. Get a reputable brand.

I'm not picky I'm just a bit disappointed....I actually think the guys motorcycle jackets are better in safety and design... I'm not interested in womens biker clothing anymore... fuck that ay. As long as I'm not riding around in pink leathers I'll be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Gonna have to save up though...$500-600 =)

LOL! I ride in pink! I wear Icon which does an awesome womens range - they have cool black stuff as well as pink. In fact a really awesome black jacket with a big skull on it - nothing pink about that! My pink Icon jacket has all the safety gear and I have come off twice in it and I have only scratched it a bit. On the down side I paid $350 US dollars and got stung $180 duty fees when it arrived at customs. Also as it is a specific womens fit, you still look like a girl and it fits correctly so surely will be better than a badly fittting mens jacket

problem is that women are so many shapes and sizes, and we demand gear that fits well in the right places. We are the minority so its hard to make it pay. An example would be a shop trying to stock gear to fit Foxzee who is really tiny and me who is nearly 6foot and a size 20..we are at the extremes of womanliness, but we both demand a good fit. Who does the manufacturer make for and what does the shop choose to stock. Its a blimmin logistical nightmare. I'd suggest flagging leather and going for cordura, or get some custom gear made.
biggest 'wrong' with mens gear on women is that even if you are not particulalry curvey, you will still have female proportions, shorter arms, longer legs, smaller waist and narrower shoulders. Armour is not in the right place and the bad fit means padding and armour moves around instead of staying on the bit of your body it is meant to protect in an off.

The sizing for women's gear seems to be weird too - I am a size 12 in the top half and I wear an XL which is the largest size in the range I like.......... I find it amazing that a 12 bust is XL - what about 14,16,18,20 etc boobs???

I think it is just a matter of time before more womens gear is available - I was at a womens dirt bike riding course and they let us loose in Cycletreads - most of the womens bought complete outfits - pants, tops, armour, boots, gloves and helmets - there is huge potential there, all these women that were wanting to wear the "cute/pink" fox gear and spending up large. They all had really flash dirt bikes too.
Of course I was there in my borrowed gear with my $400 2 stroke bike letting the side down........

the guys will say to let anything bigger hang around in the fresh air. best get that one out of the way.

Have you checked out the Icon range? Skinny leg (thigh) leather pants with boot leg bottom's - feminine as....... ($129.00 US) Anyone able to parallel import? There's an importer in Australia. Check it out - the dude at cycle treads has spoken to his boss about importing fem biker gear - but his boss thinks there's NO DEMAND!!! The boots on Icon are amazing - and well priced when you think about how much shapeless Draggin jeans costs.

Re leather gear - problem with stocking women's stuff is that you'd have a lot of stock sitting around, since women's styling / tailoring is very individual.
$250 won't get you a decent quality leather jacket, unless the manufacturer is selling around cost (or less). Quasi for offering those pants at $180 is a bloody good deal. I have one of his jackets and a pair of gloves. Brilliant gear. Built to last and protect. Fits really well.
