There's a copper who rides a BMW who seems to have a bug up his arse about bikes.WTF!
Maybe he hates riding his beema in the welly weather and decided to take it out on us.
He seems to patrol around the interchange and every time I see him he's ticketing some poor biker.
Tonight it was a triumph tiger.
Be Aware!!!

He slowly drags himself out of the city to Porirua... potentially onwards. Not seen him on Whitford Brown for a while... He never waves back, always has a measuring device to his face... him.

It could just be that he's jealous of having to sit on a two wheeled tank all day.

Don't know what you guys have done to piss him off. He pulled me up for lanesplitting down Murphy St in moving traffic with no number plate on and let me go after a brief joke-filled chat.

I guess I mustn't have been speeding ;)

Well the Game we play with the Coppers is a bit like playing Cowboys and Indians as Kids, the Rules are simple, its their part of the game to catch us doing some thing naughty, its our part of the game not to let them catch us doing any thing naughty, so common sence tells me that there are places that the Coppers commonly hang out to look for Naughty Bikers and Drivers, and those are the places where it is not wise to be Naughty. Crying because the copper is playing his part of the game well is just bad sportsmanship.
There are always coppers on the road some where on SH 1 and SH 2 in the Wellington region, and the Ngauranga Interchange is good fishing for them.

Perhaps he might be usfully redirected to concentrate on nabbing all the dorks...I have seen some shocking (and quite simply useless arsed) riding since I have been stuck in the cage to and from work lately...btw I ain't no Rossi or trials meister but seriously there are some peeps that could do with a refresh of their basic skills and that's me feeling quite qualified to comment

TO the guy on the REPSOL - Firstly nice ride :blip: Secondly well done for NOT collecting the feeble learnerplated eeeedjiot (starting to split but changing his mind and floating all over the road instead at a sudden and uneven speed) or the cars beside you! Good skills on the emergency braking and avoidance...wtf was he on?

FTR all you safety anti splitting nazis...ALL other traffic was stationary for the length of that motorway.

Yup if you see this guy on his white, blue and yellow BMW avoid lane splitting at all costs. I was sitting in traffic at the on ramp at Petone heading south to wellington - there'd been a crash and traffic was backed up for several kilometres. Saw him sitting at the round about merging with traffice heading onto the motorway, I pulled up and asked straight up if he would give me a ticket if I filtered safely through the (100% stopped) traffic.
He responded with "which part of the road code tells you you can share a lane with a car?".
I know it's in there somewhere but I couldn't quote it off the top of my head, so I sat in traffic. He said he'd done a biker for dangerous driving after an accident related to splitting only a few weeks before. If you see him, ride WELL within the law and don't bother waving -.-

There is no part of the road code that precludes it.

Its called overtaking. Overtaking can be done in the same lane if done so safely and with indication.

Exactly (as long as you're within the lane and to the right of the car, anyway). There is a section in the rode code which covers it, but I can't remember which number that section is.

I am not aware of any case law on the issue. That would certainly clarify the matter (depending of course on the facts of that case).

sudden catastrophe to all tailgaters I say. Puts the wind up me something terrible to have some damned fool following within spitting distance of my bike. Pull over and let them pass, they can then piss someone else off and let me enjoy my ride in peace.

I split everyday but am always aware of any bike coming up behind and always pull in to let them by.
Sometimes I wish I had fly eyes having to watch so many things at once.Always wide awake and buzzing without the need for coffee after arriving at work.
