Am off up to Wanganui tonight, camping with the family... aaaaaand instead of doing the touristy thing, was wondering if the locals could suggest the non-touristy things to do, places to go etc... Taking my 3 girls, 6, 4, 2 so kinda need things that would be appropriate for them also...

Cheers

Cheap entertainment:
Take a white, and also a black spraycan with you...

Any signs that do not have the "H" in them, add using the white can.
Any signs that do have the "H", delete using the black spraycan.

Let us know how you get on.

Apart from 26th Dec, the only good thing about that place is the road/s leading out

ha ha ha, you can't have it back, it's a family heirloom now and has already been passed into trust for the future generations of my family...

Go out on the main street at 7pm naked and still no body will notice too. It's a ghost town I tell ya!

kowhai park is great for the kidlets. has a bbq as well, but youll be lucky if its free. virginia lake is kool to feed the ducks. durie hill towers for the views... has an elevator at the bottom of the hill, so you could park by the town bridge, take the lift up, then walk up the towers. saturday there are river markets. if you go to the museum, say you are a local otherwise you will have to pay to go in.

Nothing like the roar of engines, the smell of octane, bbq sause and chips with tomato sauce. There is nothing like to put the kids to sleep all night long.
