Do you listen to music before or during riding to get you in a pumped mood, when about to ride on the track, road, or in your back yard?
If you do what and more-so, WHY?
-> My bit, I like a bit of fast punk to get me pumped up, I love listening to music while riding, beats earplugs a million...
Well as long as I can hear the purr of my engine still and I have a stop button close by for the twisties
Just got my self an MP3 player so yes.
Mostly 3 doors down, guns'n roses, matchbox 20, Cake or the like and mainly caurce i like it :niceone:

Spooky.....
I was mentally composing a new thread on a similar vein.
What would be the ultimate biker song? For me it has to be the classic stuff from the 70's, be it a bit corny these days. The sort of stuff that brings up images of tearing along a deserted road towards a glorious sunset, love 'em and leave 'em, gotta keep moving on, etc etc. My top three:
1) Born to be wild (Steppenwolf)
2) Born to run (Bruce Springstein)
3) Bat out of hell (Meatloaf)
Okay, I guess I'm showing my age. Any others? :ride:

You forgot one. Though it may not be as old as those but AC~DC's Highway to hell. Or maybe even For Whome The Bell Tolls by Metallica or how about Back in The Saddle Again by Aerosmith? American Badass, Kid rock seems to be my favorite. Blue on Black by Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band is pretty good for those that like the slower stuff.

4) Nothing Else Matters - Metallica.
Warming up the bike is music to my ears :spudguita before I head off on a ride near or far.
Wouldn't listen to any tunes when riding. Too distracting when I should be riding and I'd be seriously worried about hearing loss.
Not ignoring the fact I might ignore a Red & Blue :Police: because I didn't hear them.
4) Nothing Else Matters - Metallica.
Now that's a tune!

haha, i wonder if my brain registered that thread in the back then lodged it away with useful information like the locations of all the speed cameras in new zealand and what my real name is, then prompted a query based on the subconcious

I like the idea of listening to music while riding, especially if I was on a trip. I'm interested to know if it is off putting though, when you can't hear what is happening around you. ??

Man I remember listening to Bride about 14 years ago, I started going to church because of this girl I liked and eventually made a whole heep of mates there, but then the devil has his way with me, so now my kind of riding music is MetallicA (Of course!), System Of A Down, Slayer, Morbid Angel, Black Label Society, Napalm Death etc etc etc this list goes on and on......
But to be honest, I've been riding around for about 3 weeks listening to my mates Ipod and I find that it mutes (no pun intended) my riding experience...I'm not too sure if I'll carry on riding with music, like a lot of people here say, the music comes from the pipes and the roar of the engine.

No need - I have music playing inside my head, most of the time. SOmetimes it's something really annoying, or an advertising jingle, and then the voices in my head get really grumpy-sounding.

I usually listen to the internal radio as well.
If its a long straight road. (i.e. the road which goes across the plains coming into kopu) I sometimes just invent a song.
When you're going quickly on some familair roads I don't think there's much that could beat the sound of a piped V-twin.

Anyway this one is here now so my answer is:-
I don't listen to anything except the sound of my bike wich is music enough :D
and the sound of other bikes as I pass them  he he he
Have fun all
Taz
Playing favourite 1st person racing or shoot-um-up game then riding is fun, but not recommended during rush hour

Used to listen to music when going for a ride to destress but after a few dubious cornering efforts I realise its just too distratcing!
A bit of music before hand is nice but if its something like P.O.D or Foo Fighters, I need to have a few deep breaths before pulling out or I tend to get a bit too vigourous on the road!

what can I say? I'm permanently close to the edge of over excited when riding? Quite possible! I have a great deal of fun each morning on my rides in(combine sportsbike with heavy traffic, some open stretchs of mway a few sweepers and someone who's running late and its fun fun fun with or without tunes) but I'll often have some good funky sounds at home before I leave.
music while lane splitting would be all bad though. I need all my concentration for that

The two songs I've been using to amp myself up lately have been 10s by Pantera and The Unnamed Feeling by Metallica. But I'm sure that'll change soon. Y'all Want a Single by Korn is being played more and more often everyday.:Punk:

I've got over 700 songs on my iPod and set it to random. Nearly always ride with music these days.
Sooooo much more pleasant than the wind noise the trophy fairing generates.

Sunday, Allun was playing 'Duality' by Slipknot before we went for the ride and I had that in my head for the rest of it. Funny how it fits in time with alot of the corners once you turn inland from the Maraetai coast...
