View Full Version : TAUPO TRACKDAY THIS SUNDAY MAY 15TH
Rodders
11th May 2005, 02:38
:ride: :ride: :ride:
HI,
I have organised a trackday for a bunch of mates :grouphug: at Taupo for this Sunday ,May 15th. Unfortunately a few have had to pull out so I need 6 more riders !!
First in First served! :msn-wink: It won't be quite the professionally organised event like Frosty's as I won't have marshalls - if someone crashes we all use our common sense and stop and help. And I won't have an ambulance there so no crashes!!! :nono:
There will be 2 groups -Medium and Fast with about 12 in each. We will be at the track from 8am -5pm so you would get stacks of track time - more than a 2hr endurance race???
Cost is $60 for the day
If you want to come PM me ASAP and I wil reply with details.
Cheers
Rodders

How about a weekend away in TAUPO together....and she gets to go shopping for 5 hrs on Sun????

:nono: I sense a small rubber ring thing close to my person :devil2: and I feel it would be very unattractive should it be placed and allowed to contract. I think no other track day, from that point on, wouldn't be quite the same with out the boy juice to make the Gixxer bounce of the rev limiter, at least 4 times, down the back straight.
Think I will stick to the second best option for the weekend. I will be so unhappy and I am sure it will take the edge off the weekend knowing what could have been.

So what are you doing this weekend????????? :nono: Don't answer that thank you very much. :drinknsin You just might get to sleep in

What a challenge, I'll have to test that rev limiter thingy for performance
(or who knows if the weekend has had the edge taken off?)

Oh very bloody funny, the Kwaka is sitting out there in the Carpark at this very moment, ridden most days. Speaking of garage ornaments your bike adorned my garage for two weeks which makes it the least used bike EVER to be in my garage in history:yes: .

awsome... i will see you all there. :niceone:
I will be riding back from Tauranga to Wgtn on Sunday so might just pop in to see you all on the way through. Good excuse to check out the track - never been there.
Just got home from a weekend ride to Tauranga and after a bit of searching on the way home I found the Taupo track and the Auckland mob having some fun. Rodders thanks for letting me join in for a session and showing me around.
Good to catch up with Loosebruce, still as loose as ever, and met Death Inc.
Great little track with some enjoyable turns.

Awesome day! Cheers Rodders, much fun was had by all.
Had a ball, really happy with my bike setup now, lotsa wheelspin, not super fast(still can't keep up with Loosebruce...)but how I like it.Need a new front tyre though, the 2yr old x race takeoff corsa tried to spit me off a few of times  Had to back off a bit.....
Paco gave me a blast on the R1 to get some vid footage of the sky (cheers bud) what a hoot, made me realise how dodgy the handling on the gixxer is,Awesome bike.I'll have to take back all the bad things I've said about R1's now.....
Very impressed with Andy1 on the motard :niceone: and the bloke on the Buell who was getting some good pace going by the end of the day,and of course LB on the super trick TL....

THANKS TO ALL YOU GUYS WHO CAME!!!!!! :grouphug:
Wouldn't be much fun around the track by myself! I was a little worried Wed last week that it would be RAIN ,RAIN and more RAIN for Sat and Sun. Well the LOW dispersed and slowed down and SAT arrived with sunny skies and dry roads. Had planned to go with the KB ride down 22 but ended up leaving 10:30. Stunning ride down -pretty chilled and taking in some great backroads with a bit of roadwork GAP 100 gravel thrown in - like riding on tennis balls
Cool bit of bike cam from PACO of everyone - can't wait to see Deaths track ride with it -will see how blue the sky was !!!
SUN left for short ride to the track in a frosty (wish you were there) zero deg celsius to find the track and Taupo in fog :cold: :cold:
It only got better as the day went on and I was really IMPRESSED with EVERYONES RIDING - Within their limits but could see improvements through the day.
Then some crazy person suggested a race - pretty much a F3 race with Crf 450, 3 RGV's, 2 RS Aprilias, Gsxr 400 and FZR400 (who did I miss). What a BLAST!!!!! So much fun going as quick as I dare . 6 laps was over far to quick -. So we had to have another one. Brilliant fun. Would be fun to know what lap times we were doing as racing certainly upped the Testosterone levels aye boys!! Defintely the highlight for me was just being out there thrashing bikes with my mates - your a cool bunch :grouphug:
To top my day off a wicked little ride on Mark's CRF450. So strange and different - felt so HIGH and more natural to stick my foot out not my knee and detouring onto the motard track at Taupo. Wicked brakes with So much suspension travel - Mark and Andy - Don't know how you get around the track so quick! :Punk:
Good uneventful (no tickets) ride home and to top it all off to sit up and watch MOTO GP live. What a day!!!! :niceone:
THANKS for a great day ALL of you -Hope you had as much fun as me.
Just another post to say thanks to Rodders for sussing this day out for us. Was bloody great fun, never had so much time on the track before, could literally have the track all to yourself at times if you wanted to! Almost too much time as some points, ended up totally buggered.
Being only my 2nd time on a track it was good to be able to follow all you guys around and try and learn something from ya, especially Loosebruce, how the F#$k that bike can go so well has got me beat!
Only hickup for me for the day was loosing the pin that held in my brake pads, which then started to drop out, forunately that was easily fixed with a spare pin.
Predictably I found out just how hard it is to stick to the speed limit on the open road after a day of being on the track on my way back to Hamilton. Fortunately Mr HP never did get to have the word with me he appeared to want to... 'nuff said.

What a great day, the sun was shinning, the track was in great condition, and the company was exceptional. Just had a look at the picks, and it looks like there’s a couple of good ones. I’m going to post a few, and give the full copies to Paco to put on his web site. :niceone: Cheers.
That one of John with the reflective strips is pretty cool aye!

First up- Rodders. Thanks for organising- it was a wicked day:niceone: !Right up to Friday evening Taupo forecast for sunday was rain rain rain:no: . It turned out to be a beaut one:yes: . Fog lifted around 0930 and by 1000 the track was dry and the boys started playing with their toys.:ride:
300+ pictures were taken on the day (some good quality ones by Mono) which I will resize (for those that still have a tin can and string) and upload to my website (http://www.drpac.net/) in the next few days. I have some trackday footage as well so those that were at Taupo- hit me back if you want it.:devil2:
All i can say that it was a primo day and I learnt heaps! Death_INC- nuf respect:not:! For someone to jump on a different bike and Mono it down the straight on first go- legend mate! I think I have more footage of the sky than the actual track day!
Loosebruce- I thoroughly enjoyed watching you on your TL....impressive!:2thumbsup
Thanks to Mono for carrying the luggage to and fro- will catchup with you later!
Good meeting some more new riders and off course good to catchup with the regulars!
I've got a little video of the track, How do I post it?
As far as I know you cant post videos on here, rather you need someone to host them for you, then we can all download them from there.

good one mono... you must have a huge amount of faith in all of us. :ride:

Sorry Guys I would have loved to make it but with Mella yella broken I needed to sort that out.
Some pretty darn cool riding there guys - Fantastic.
Just one thing --Fuck I hate to be a negative bastard so please don't take this wrong.
Mono and the other photographers. -PLEASE PLEASE be more careful.
Where you guys were sitting at times is right in the possible path of a crashing bike/rider.
The two places that scare the shit outa me are -Infeild at the end of the esses--Great photo opp for sure but if someone straight lines it you are --well fucked. ditto a couple of other places.
