Bad accident in practise F2 braking for Pirelli cut through the bails and hit something solid.
Jared Love battered and bruised and forks snapped in first F2 race 1st lap.
Bad side car crash first corner, needed both ambulances causing an early end, looked quite serious.
As above, the Honda boys did the winning in F1 Craig, Hayden and Ryan. Nick, Karl & Dave doing it in F2.
Another hot Paeroa day, wasnt racing myself but wish I was, place was buzzing. Good to see Tony Rees on his 4day old superstock R1 and Lance Lowe giving it large on the back wheel, Paul Dobbs keeping those Dukes going (one clutch between two bikes I think) and doing well.
Just got to sort the sunburn out now!

They canned the day after the sidecar crash, said it would take about 1/2 an hour to get another ambo to the track and that would take the time close to 5pm, which is when they have to finish. But that was after about a 1/2 - 3/4 hour of nothing happening but clearing up I guess.
Here is Loves bike getting a ride back to the pits.

Highs for today, watching Craig and Haydon getting 'clean air' over the hump by the dummy grid, the classic sidecars attempting to get drive out of the Suzukis 'S' bends, the lean angles those supermoto guys can get with a leg stuck out in front of them (whats all that about), the sheer speed of those self powered sidecars, the attempts to slow 170+kgs of bike down to tip into the Suzuki 'S' bends. The amount of people you can fit into one 'streets open' car (best count = 6), watching a Harley Davidson kick ass (rider wearing full retro 60's leathers), watching the hay bails actually moving as the quick guys flick past the kink on the start-finish straight!!
An awesome day (as a spectator), well done AMCC, well done PSRC, well done all who took part, role on next year

Pretty comfortable wins for Craig in F1, Jay was running hot on a FZR1000 that bike owner Sean Ellis had bought a couple of weeks before and pretty much put a Ohlins shock in and bugger all else, cleaned up Posties then ran midfield in the feature race not bad for a 21 year old road bike. F2 was looking like Nick and Jarod would pick up where they left off at Whanganui but unfortunately both riders outbraked themselves in to the 1st corner in R1 with Jared's and bike to broken to continue.
Big crowd just hope some off them make the effort to go to a real meeting on a real track to see real racing this weekend.

What amazes me Robert, is that you, and many other people in the motorcycle industry have names of business and other logos all over your trailers etc, and yet Squids still do dumb stuff right in front of you.....
I guess they are so used to doing dumb stuff, it doesn't even register......
I has it a guess, you have a very different opinion of them if you recognise the bike after something like that has happened.....
I for one would feel embarased if I had to come and ask for your services if I did something dumb that you saw while on the road.... I guess not every rider has that shame....

Sure you're on the right website?
FYI the 100kph speed limit and yellow lines are designed for wide, slow accelerating cars, vans, suv's etc. being operated by drivers with low levels of brain stimulation i.e. lowest common denominator. If more `bikers' had ridden bikes to Paeroa maybe the roads out wouldn't have been so clogged yesterday arvo?

Was there two fatalities at Paeroa ?
http://www.stuff.co.nz/waikato-times/sport/3357932/Race-has-heavy-toll
The incident which led to the first death in the 19-year history of the Battle of the Streets came during a warm-up ride at about 8.30am, when the veteran rider came off his bike at the end of the back straight. He was airlifted to hospital by the Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance.

No, plenty of business is coming my way anyway. And to reply to SVR Im on the road with a trailer/ workshop that has been supplying specialist services to racing motorcyclists. Having been a motorcyclist Im always mindful of giving them plenty of room even though many have a habit of riding in your blind spot
When you have brain dead idiots passing you when approaching blind corners you just take a deep breath....if something is coming the other way it can take all of you out.
But I guess you cant put brains where they arent supposed to be.

Happens every year, someone has to bleat about the carry-on of ''some'' bikers on the way back from Paeroa.
Inconsiderate riding happens every day, not just on the 3rd Sunday of every Feb'.
I found that alot cars pulled to the left, thats the advantage of being on a bike, leep-frogging your way to front of a queue of bloody cars.
I only saw one cop I think on the way home, he was sitting just at the begining of the new passing lane at Maungatawhiri.
Alot of dead traffic on the Motorway heading into Auckland, which if a Harley can get through, so can I.
To be fair, there were a couple of idiots, but on the whole, just another day in the world of motorcycles.

I understand Robert. Last year, some wanker was on his back wheel through a 30K area in loose metal in the opposite lane while everyone (myself included) was taking in easy. There will always be that exceptional cockhead that (time after time) does dumb thinking he is impressing those who can see him.

I saw only two cops all day . One between Ngatea and Paeroa. he didn't have his radar on, but I was very law abiding, cos of that road being notoriously dangerous, infested with snakes.
And the other , perversely on OLD State Highway 2 just after the Kaiuwa turnoff on the way home. What's he doing THERE? Not supposed to be snakes on that road. Snakes not permitted on any road with "old' in the name. But, he had his radar on full time, so I had lots of warning. Maybe he did it deliberately, realised he wasn't playing by the rules .
Other than those two, a very safe day.
Of course, personally, I never speed. Speed kills, this I know, for the guvernment tells me so.

Exactly Quasi, and some of them might be grateful of an ambulance with ( god forbid ) 4 wheels.
Its always pathetic to witness bullish / abrasive behaviour when referring to car drivers. Many of us rode motorcycles or still do and like you are very attentive to motorcycles and give them plenty of room.
There are of course many idiot car drivers.
With the increase in ACC levies being such a hot potato its sad to see so many idiots on motorcycles effectively demonstrating to many car drivers that the increase may well have been justified

Mate I'm quite happy to show respect to Riders on the roads, pulled left all day, a few riders got the rock on signs, but with all the whinging about ACC levie's you'd think Riders would be a little responsible for themselves rather than expecting us (filthy cagers) to slam the brakes on so they didn't end up on my bonnet, or their mates up my arse.
I ain't riding my bike on the roads, no interest whatso-ever.
And if you Marshalled yesterday at Paeroa, I'm more than somewhat surprised at your post. Dicks? Speak for yourself Richard....

Thankyou Scrivy, first person to hear that from. Only comments had before that were critisism on the decision to cancel racing from people who had no idea just how serious that crash was.
We love you Toot. You and your ilk have helped plently off us - it's a shame you usually get to meet us when we are most pissed off! Very sad about yesterday's tragedy - condolances to Alan's family and friends, and the sidecar community - we know your a tightnit group (most of the time).

Thankyou Scrivy, first person to hear that from. Only comments had before that were critisism on the decision to cancel racing from people who had no idea just how serious that crash was.
The racing ended early yesterday. Personally I was concerned that it had taken so long for the track to re-open after the race had been stopped due to the accident at the top of the front straight. It just went on and on.
Some would not have even noticed how long it was taking. As far as criticism goes, I heard none where I was, it was more worrying about what was happening and the sending of all our support to the downd riders/passengers.
Sadly the worst case scenario has transpired. Please dont hear any negatives from the posts, many people would not have even considered how much is done by so many prior to and on the day to make an event like BOT Paeroa happen for general consumption. The fact that no one thanks you guys is largely down to what a fantastic job you all do. Kia Kaha!

I'd imagine that it would be pretty tough for somebody to ride their racebike to Paeroa! But I suppose if they were REAL BIKERS, they would have. I'm sure if Robert was a real biker, he'd be able to get his whole workshop into a tankbag too!

What amazes me Robert, is that you, and many other people in the motorcycle industry have names of business and other logos all over your trailers etc, and yet Squids still do dumb stuff right in front of you.....
I normally drive a car to Paeroa as it's so close it'd be a stretch to call it a "ride" and it's always so damned hot I can't be arsed sweating like a mofo in protective gear. They should have a booth at the entrance where you can swap helmets and leathers for boardies* and jandals**.
Anyhoo.....there was some REAL fuckin stupid riding on the way home, especially as it's obvious there's gonna be cops in every direction for miles around. 2 bikes in front of us obviously had reverse thrusters as they were so close to the car ahead of them. Idiot mate behind us with girlie on pillion on wrong side of road going around outside of our car at blind left hand intersection.

Yeah well, I can never understand why any female would have so little regard for her own life that she would sit on the back of a bike riden in that sort of manner. I saw a really horrible example of that yesterday, I guess they got home on one piece. When we ride down we have no choice but all the gear. We have always found somewhere to leave it, and can be found wandering around like any other spectator.

The "power ranger" dressed sprotbike plonkers that passed me n kanny on the Kopu Hikuwhai rd, on blind corners, tight/no run off areas once again showed that sparkling clean plastic fairings attract fuckwits like moths to a flame.
Same lil wankers that kanny passed on gravel road works, as they wobbled their way through, and passed them again as they compared wank stains/chicken strips at the Kopu pub.

I have to say since the bike broke sunday morn & I got a cage ride over I was happy to see patient riders on the way there, but on the way home fark does everyone think they are racers ??
also while waiting for bro to pick me up & here goes a bike 2up, the rider board shorts, jandels & singlet, chick on the back short shorts, t shirt and sneakers, the only safety gear was the helmet .. but hell that really made me cringe could imagine if they binned with all that lovely exposed flesh .. but also have to say 99% of others had all the gear so that was awesome to see

An awesome day (as a spectator), well done AMCC, well done PSRC, well done all who took part, role on next year
Summed up perfickly, my first time & I'm still buzzin. Got a photo of somebodys exhaust as they wheelied past the dummy grid knocking the foam off my cappucino.

I was just thinking the same thing, passing under a WAVING yellow flag, AFTERthe race had finished.
The yellow flag was there because I had overcooked that corner on the last lap and crashed into the very same spot that Nick did.
Luckily I had removed myself and my bike from that spot before that idiot came slamming in (I had only JUST moved as Sherrifs and Hayden came past, Nick came third)
Great footage by the way Andrew...

Yes Brett, all flags are applicable until you have left the circuit. Riders do on occasion crash on the warm down lap and following riders should be warned, this applies for debris flags etc, you may not know of oil put down on the last lap until after you cross the finish line and go into turn one for example.
If there was no incident between turn one marshall and the next point then he dont need to wave his yellow.
The only time all ponts wave their flags simultaneously for motorcycles is RED, or AMBULANCE. For cars you can add waved double yellow for full course caution and safety car.
Gremlin
25th February 2010, 01:04
Not all points have reds tho. Paeroa, reds were at s/f, 2, 5, 9. The rest of the points use waved yellows in a race stoppage. Yellows were out for first lap of each practise session to show riders where the points were.

I dont want to get involved in a shit slinging match, but im baffled as to why his stuck brake resulted in him passing people. Having had the odd stuck brake myself i have usually found it has the opposite effect. If it was a stuck throttle i would fully understand.
Could someone in the know please afford an explanation as to how it happened ?
He had clipped his footpeg on something during the race, which had bent the holding bolt, and as he does NOT normally use th rear break whilst racing, this was the first time he had used it, and as the peg was loose and the bolt was bent, the break leaver got jammed on causing the issue

What happened to Peter Tanner? Know his bike broke down in the morning, but nothing after that...
broke a valve spring in the morning ,had no parts to fix it

Had to laugh.
Sometimes I think bikers are no more onto it than the average car driver. While everybody was using SH 2 like a pack of drones,I was doing 140 kmh (in perfect safety) up the canal roads, along the Miranda back road to Mangatawhiri and over the Bombay back road to the motorway. I saw two cars and about five bikes using the same roads. Some of which should be disgusted that they could not keep up with an "old man's bike" with 45L givi bags attached. So much for shiny sprots bikes
I dont think its got anything to do with whether they have shiny sportsbikes or not, maybe they werent prepared to open the throttle as much as you.

If you believe any sportsbike made in the last 25 years could not keep up with your "old man's bike" doing 140kmph then you honestly should seek help.

Old mans bikes can beat new bikes plenty good!

I think Quasi made it clear in his post Bob that the brake was the cause for the crash...not the overtaking....as I see the vid, it wasn't even overtaking 'at speed' as DocMartin would have you believe...maybe fast for him but in fact it was quite slow for Nick! :-)
Lol. You're a fine one to throw shit at peoples race pace. Your own is laughable. For the record, I seem to remeber Doc Martin giving Nick Cole more than one hiding on track. He's far from a nobody.
And as for crashing because the rear brake jammed, you know this how? Oh that's right, the lever was twisted and jammed when he got back to the pits. Moments after he crashed. Hmmmmm. Couple of grains of salt with that explanation anyone?
For the record, I don't give a fuck whats what but if one racer wants to have a moan about another racers apparent disrespect for flags, good on him. Telling someone to quit bitching simply because they hold an oppinion differing from your own is laughable in itself.

I considered that that may be the case, but each time they raced up behind me on the straights and disappeared behind me through the twisties,I thought it less and less likely.

Ooohh,touchy!
I'm sure it's more about the rider than the bike.
See, buying an R1 or GSXR doesn't get you a free brain transplant from Rossi or Stoner.:devil2:

Sheesh, thats a tad mean isnt it.
Nick said his brake locked on, it looked like it locked on, so Im picking it did lock on, Im fairly certain he knows how to take that corner faster than most ...........dont you agree, Im also sure he prefers not to go crashing into bales of hay.

I crashed in practice - Ididn't hit a forklift - I didn't die . I did go back to do a bit of CSI on Tuesday and found a few bits of my bike, worked out where I went, there was another set of marks that went about 50 meters - he must have been going REALLY fast !!!

I'm Glad I can make you laugh :-)...and for the record I wasn't throwing shit at anyone's race pace unlike what you have just done....merely stating that I thought he went past pretty slow...I know there are plenty of racers faster than me Mr Slidmoto....maybe even you...but who knows huh...since you don't tell us who you are.
For the record, I seem to remeber Doc Martin giving Nick Cole more than one hiding on track. He's far from a nobody. Well good on him...not sure what your point is here.

Couple of grains of salt with that explanation anyone? Nick dropped his bike more than once, not to mention what Shaun has already said. theres some salt for you :-)

Fair enough....it would be more useful to do it to his face though don't you think.
I actually can't really understand where all you anger directed at me has come from...obviously not just this thread cause if you read my comments I haven't had a go at anyone really...unless your easily insulted in which case you should HTFU! I have merely given another viewpoint from the incident which according to your very own words should be allowed.

I thought Motard riders were the only cross dressers Quasi? An identity crisis of whether to race on dirt ( what they are made for ) or to ride around on tarmac...............Seems odd. I guess at least unlike the true puddle jumpers most of you wear your hats correctly!!!!!

nah Mate, sportsbike riders are mostly made up of posers, this is why true bikers jump on to a bike not built or designed for track use with about a 1/3 rd of the power and kick there arses.
