Hiya

I'm unable to race/ride for the next 6 months due to my ACL injury.

Was thinking I could get a really cheap trials bike to keep my balance good for when I get back into it.

Question is, does anyone have a cheap trials bike of some sort or know anyone who does? Or even borrow for the around the property haha.

Cheers
Vin :scooter:

John at Kapiti motorcycles(he's the Beta importer) usually knows of bikes being sold. Or search up a trails club near you and contact someone within the club.

You're guilty of being a tard. Keep trying though, one day you will say something funny and we will all laugh.

Anyway trails bikes don't get as hammered so you can pick up a good cheap one. Definitely good training.

Yamaha TY250, mid 80's, usually about $1500 or spend abourt $4500 for something from this decade....bloody good idea, if someone gives you one for free can I come and have a go?

Theres a very nice looking TY250 on trademe. Quite tempted actually. Looks in good condition, its the only one on TM. Are there any other oldschool type of bikes like the TY250?? Thanks for the help :)

If it's the one in Hastings? I think it's overpriced and I'm not sure how good a "restoration" has been done, looks like a can of spray paint and a bottle of rum was involved......I'm not an expert on this but the suzuki's of that era had weak frames and the kawasaki KT250's were ok ish, the Yamaha is the pick of them as it was a good bike and parts are still readily available. There are some Trials guys in the Waitemata club (they had a trials day yesterday) so maybe contacting them would be worth while, there is a name & phone number on the website.

We've been looking for a reasonable trials bike for ages now. Not too many around tho. TM is the best bet. $4,500 should net you a good Scorpa.
You really need to spend at least that as the technology difference, although not noticable to us pleps, is quite marked.

Good luck with your search, sincerely. I have been looking for a good cheapie for 3 years up here & found nuttin. For some reason really old hammered bikes are still commanding high prices. It's the same in the uk. I spotted a TY 250 in a shop, ancient, run over by a steam roller & priced at 1250 pounds!
