Just wondering if anyone has cut down the kick start for a KDX200! Yeah with my short legs I have to bring my foot up too high to get a successful kick down! Heard that it might make the bike harder to start though. Any help would be appreciated.

You'll lose a lot of leverage if you shorten it.

Nope not heard of it being done but would just require a good welder to cut and weld it, And yes it would be harder to kick over because you will loose some of the leverage you have at it current length opposite would happen if you made it longer but again could be harder as making it easier to kick over would mean you would put in less effort when kicking.

I wouldn't shorten it but can you reposition it on the kick start spline so it sits lower to start with? Unbolt it, rotate it a bit and bolt it back up? This may get in the way of other things but it might give you the height you need.

Another option is to due bend it further down the lever. Might stick out or interfere with something though?

or you get one of those electric shock dog training collars, fit the collar to your riding buddy then strap the remote button to your bar with a sticker on it marked start, if you stall it you just lean on the button till your collard mate starts it for you:eek:

I disagree :bleh:
I believe you can use one off an older KX125 (you'll have to google which) or can buy an after market one like mine which is shorter and solves the problem of wearing out the stock kickstart which is a known problem with the KDX.
I have no problem with starting it.

Yeah I might be a lil bigger:shifty: but a KDX not exactly got a lot of compression :)
Yep, I'll be keen for Friday. Have to go dust the cobwebs off the KDX

Thanks for that information. When you say you have an after market one, where did you get that and excuse me sounding thick, but is it from a KDX or a 125?

I got it from a mate who had sold his KDX but he got it from here (http://www.shopfrpoffroad.com/index.htm) but I had a look and couldn't find a listing for it anymore. Yes it is made for a KDX.

Heres a link with someone mentioning using an 1989 kx125 kick start lever. You need to use the kdx knuckle apparently.

Just looking at pics of my old KDX, cutting and welding looks possible with either a slight re-bend or moving on the spline slightly after the cut n shut so it doesnt hit on the expansion chamber.
Unless your a real weakling you shouldnt have a problem starting it... ;p
Let me know if your keen to give it a go, I can help you out with the welding (assuming its a steel lever, and from memory I think it is).
