Hi

I'm thinking about getting a tank cam, can anyone suggest some older / cheaper models and where to get them from?

Cheers

The cheapest cam they do is $259au or something like that, but then u need the recorder unit.

Its pretty small, like a good sized cigar.

I might save me pennies, would be great for track days!

get a handi-cam with an external input then buy a spycam, you can mount them almost anywhere and the cost if you come off is minimal

Personally I would go the helmet option. After trying to keep up with StoneChucker a while back with digital camera in one hand and bike in the other (and him thinking it was a race) it is very difficult I decided. Too much vibration off the bike put me off mounting one on the bike itself. When I am rich and have all the radar equipment and laser jammers (high priority) on my bike and have all the performance parts for my race quad (even higher priority) then I will look at helmet cams. :killingme

I got a small bullet camera from Jaycar Electronics, $320 for the colour, bout $90 or something for black n white, my digi video camera sits in the tail unit (i made a sponge packing surround for it) and the camera goes anywhere on the bike, even helmet if you want to, works bloody well, the casing of my one is strong enough to take a point blank shot from a .22, at least thats what they told me.
Fisrt time i used it though, i was like yeah go faster make it look good on the camera, then i found myself in the trees on the side of the road, after i low sided at around 90kph, piss all damage to the bike and no damage to me, it was all good and made for some funny veiwing afterwards, although riding back to alkd without a footpeg sucked arse.
Only thing I haven't found is a deceant microphone to use with it, when i hvae money i will get one.

Worthwhile purchase if you 'use' it Bren_chch!

Had a bit of a laugh reading their disclaimer (on the above website)...

"These units are designed to be used and operated whilst the user is stationary."

Since when do motorcyclists want to video the tree they are parked next to??

hahaha... I suppose thats the best way to protect them from people going to fast round corners because they have a NEW cam and they want it to look good! E.G. Interesting how you dredge up old threads to promote a buisness. I would make a general thread and then PM people who had older thread.
