Anything to avoid putting CRC5.56 on?

noob question: I just bought a can of CRC 5.56 and am wondering if there are any bike parts I should avoid spraying with it: like exposed rubber bits or the front brake disc maybe (but presumably one needs to clean this with something too?), will it slowly chew through paint?... I've just bought a 2006 GN250 with some rust, so was hoping to halt further corrosion and tidy up a few rusty screw heads.

Read the label on the can. I preferred using WD40 ,seemed to work better. Keep it off all controls(seat included). Parafin wax is better for corrosion protection on the frame. Rubber and plastic don't like oil based solvent/lubricants since most are made from them.

Keep it off the disc (brakes) you don't want to lube them!

IMHO, Inox is better than CRC, too.

Yeah avoid the seat and discs but another can worth buying is a can of brake clean, cause ya just cant help gettin some overspray on the discs ! (just remember you may have next to no brakes when ya take off down your steep drive )

I buy it in a 5 ltr pack with a squirty bottle and bath the bikes in it (like dripping off) then wipe off the access before startin it up and having a smoke off, you do have a bit of dust stick but like ya say no corrosion ! Have never put a hose on my bikes or soap suds ! Some say WD40 is better than CRC but hey 6 of 1 sort of shit i say !

Avoid putting it on anything. It works middlingly well for removing tar and chain sppoge from the wheels, but seems to be pretty useless for everything else.
WD40 is more betterer.

I use WD40 on a rag to wipe the wheels clean. It's not too bad at getting tar and other shit off.

I haven't noticed any paint lift - however it did loosen the balance weight on the rear which I've yet to replace. Adds a bit of fun factor to the ride.

- Bearings - munch munch, grease for lunch
- Wheel weights.......they are stuck on
