G'day, I'm very new to biking. I'm also from Tasmania, I know this is 'A site for all New Zealand Motorcyclists' but its helped me with a few problems already, so I thought i'd sign up.
I just got my license after many months of getting into bikes (admiring, researching, i'm a sucker for old british bikes and cruisers) and I was looking at buying a bike when I was in a workplace accident, got run over, snapped my Tibia, broke my ankle and hip, and was pretty beat up, when I finally got out of hospital (1 titanium metal rod and 5 screws later) I saw a '89 GN250 for sale, liked the look, did some research on it and bought it, but alas, I can't ride it cause of my hip and cast... So i've just been working out it's quirks and admiring it, and wishing I could finally get on the road and cruise.
So yeah, like I said, real new to biking, this foum has helped me already so I thought I'd join and bore you all with my motorcycling story.
Haha.
Cheers.

Welcome to KB. I also like the old ones, but don't want to spend time buggering about with them so prefer retro. Hope you heal soon and get out on the road.

Cheers everyone forr the well wishes, I get my cast off tomorrow and a moon boot on, so hopefully i'll be told a rough idea of when i'll be able to get on the road.

So, I got my cast off today and all my staples pulled out (ouch) haha. But no news on when i'll be able to ride, I do have some cool x-rays where you can see the metal rod and 5 screws nicely. But i'm healing along as expected so it's ok, I guess.

In some interesting news though, I met two old blokes who had and have some cool as classic bikes. In Tassie I find very few people into bikes, and even fewer who are into anything else apart from sport bikes.
But yeah, one was in the doctors surgery waiting room, he had 5 really old 40's bikes, like army issue and stuff, can't really remember what though. THe other guy was my taxi driver who used to have a 50's Thunderbird (In the 50's of course), which the police used to use here until they changed to BSA Gold Star (i'm not sure what they use now), and he said it got a flat, and after repairing it, it quickly got another one so he sold it for 10 pounds! Haha.
