Im just about to replace the read brake pads on my R6 2002 and when I took off the old ones, there are no 'anti-chatter' shims mentioned in the Haynes Manual. The pads I ordered from Yamaha ($85 worth) dont come with the shims and they want - wait for it - $120 for the 4 shims. As the current pads dont have any, are they really worth having in the first place. Or, are they absolutely essential.
Thanks
Tim

I wouldn't say absolutely essential, but definetly an advantage to a certain degree.
At present my fr pads on the XR600l are chattering at low speed, must look into that.

ThanksYou're welcome.
Hey mate
No they are not essential.
Just grab a tube of copper slip from repco and smear it on the back of the pads (thinly).
The tube will last for years.
