Had some problems with my bike which basically involved it dying as I was motoring along at 100km/h.

Lights still go etc but bike won't start. Get the bike home charge up the battery and bike goes fine.

Not convinced that alll is honky dorey I start up the bike run it for a few minutes then disconnect the battery (neg) and bike dies immediately. I would have thought the alternator would have taken over. I had no lights or anything running.

Is this an indication that I need to get a new alt? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers.

If your stator is stuffed, Ken Cairns Auto Electrical in Hamilton will rewind it for you at a very modest price compared with a new one. I've used them before and it was on the recommendation of a south island Honda dealer that I did.
