Count me in for this one. Really want to see what the blue mounatains road is like - and where it is.

Weather looks good for Saturday.

Had a look on map - thanks for posting it. Line 1 looks a bit funny though - have you bought the hovercraft thing from trademe? The route is "as the crow flies" rather than following the road - made me giggle when I realised.

Cheers

Ben

Cheers Ben, now corrected the 'crow-fly-line'. In the meantime, if you have time take a ride out to Silverstream and follow the Blue Mountains Road up the way, it is 1km climb with numerous bends, then turn around and come back down it is a good challenge. 250cc riders will be selecting 2nd/3rd gear on descend.

Ride up SH2 over Rimutaka Hill to Featherston and return to Hutt Valley turning off at Te Marua and travelling through Mangaroa Valley and Whitemans Valley to Short Straw Cafe. Then Blue Mountains Road to Silverstream and back onto SH2.

Hi guy,

Just something you may want to consider for this Saturday on the hill: its Martinborough Fair Day, so you will be escorted by 30,000 people in cars

You sure will be - I myself am going to the Martinborough Fair, and if its anything like last year the traffic is going to be very heavy and constant right through the day. Take it easy out there, and enjoy the ride (Sorry that I can't make it, feel like spending some money on many things that I don't need!).

The Apiti Scamper is on Saturday as well, so if anyone would like to join me for that I will be heading up to Palmy at about 7am. This ride is to raise money for Ronald McDonald House, so it is definitely for a good cause.

I'll be taking the ZX10 (if i get the whole rear of the bike back together tonight). Got new tires today, fit them on tomorrow then throw the wheels back on. Will be doing a steady rate of 100ks-110ks most of the way.

A very enjoyable ride today. Three novice riders and I went over the Haywards Hill and up Paekakariki Hill and down and along to Raumati....yes you guessed it Waterfornt Bar and Kitchen - the back door was locked the front door open. Enjoyed cold refreshments, wedges and sour cream, and meanwhile waited while the chef ran out across the beach to catch Richard's 'fish and chips'. No bother though the order wasn't passed to the kitchen, the waitress was embarassed, and a refund and complementary drink was forthcoming as well as plentiful apologies on our departure. Never mind these things happen until.......We ride back over Paekakariki Hill, around Greys Road, down SH1 and then back around the southern side of the inlet back to Pauahatanui Inlet for coffee, when he that ordered fish and chips waited and waited for his pancakes to arrive. No sweat it was a good morning's ride.

The observation today was: ensure you set up for the right approach speed to a down hill sloping closing radius 25kph bend.

Next Saturday morning's ride will be Wainui Coast - subject to preliminary ride inspectin next Friday afternoon.
